Spa6 2009: various snaps
Discussion
Good stuff. Maybe the 6 was having and off day. He does get through engines, I'd have expected it to be close to the top DB4's and 5.
Oh Well.
Yep the Class A mogs look to be in there championship form, highley tuned 4.6 and very big 1b Semi Slicks.
Check the Class A Mog at Brands http://www.oliverbryant.com/main/video.html 6th one down.

Cheers Terry, yep found what I wanted - was 2006 ... I see the Ram has improved a bit since then, but that the Class A Mog of Oli Bryant was easily fastest in 06.
Not bad for some thing with alledgely less than 400bhp. They do normally run on slicks though, so not sure if on those or if Barrys race allowed those. I'd have thought free as long as not slick, but not sure.

IIRC the Morgans (and the Tiger) ran on Hoosiers: clever in the dry, not so clever in the wet.Not bad for some thing with alledgely less than 400bhp. '06 was last year of the 'old chassis' in the RAM - mixed weather; I led the race and had FL in the wet until the pit stop. Pit stop/safety car fell wrong for us. Whatever, '06 was a good race and our first time on the podium at Spa, we were happy with that.

Didn't Joe Henderson use an engine by John Wood? The best TR6 engine builder I know of,they are usually 'turbine smooth',lovely to drive.
Yep Woody used to make the best engines. (Mind you I think my fathers are bloody good too ). But he was "Impossible to get hold of" and Racetorations went bust and one half of the business had a messy divorce (he owned the land the business was on), then John got divorced as all he seemed to care about was the cars.Top top engine builder but just impossible to communicate with - a nitemare. He still builds for people he knows wells, bit of a gypsy now I think!
Rumours were always that Joes current car is a trick BIG TR6 engine. This car is the ex-John Churchill car. Built very strong and heavy but very good and with the engines Joes runs massivelt fast. He used to own the car Mark Campbell now runs very successfully in the CSCC, that was a 5 and a real screamer - but been rebuilt a few times since joe had it (owned by Chris Petch in between - very fast driver but christ he crashed alot too!), Racecraft engine originally too.
Woody will never change! I worked with him for several years at CMS,very clever bloke [away from engines as well]Always great to work with, likes the occasional beer as well,I'll not bore you with the details of a particularly 'heavy' night in the Hotel Modern [Spa] but time we all got to bed it wasn't long before we were back at the circuit, expected to go out and race!! Woody started the night off,-----------------of course!!

Damn right! Weekly update:Megaquick Sechaud Escort in a blur . . .
. . . and a bit faster shuttertime: 2nd place for this car!
Phil running his usual wide.
Dickson Cobra - 1 sec slower than Chengs - came in 18th.
Cooke RSR Pork: does this have the 2.1 turbo engine in?

D's make surprisingly good road cars actually.I got take for a quick spin in one once and they ride beautifully, much better than many moderns. I was glad I had a pair of shades with me though, the windshields isn't up to much on the passenger side. Not sure there would be too much space to put the shopping either.
Does
"Is it OK if I collect you in a D-Type"
qualify for the all time list of stupid questions?
The rules for Le Mans demanded a sort of extra seat, just not that it should be very useful. When the rules were changed to require a drivers door no such requirement was applied to the passengers side.
Sitting in the passenger seat does sort of require inserting your knees up your own nostrils but that seems a small price to pay. When I was driven around Goodwood in one I didn't have time to go and grab any shades and so had to hunker down behind the screen, which doesn't rank as the most comfortable seating position I've ever experienced in a Jag, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
The first owner I discussed this issue with though said that he'd managed to get his wife in the passenger seat once. But only once. It was his car that I was later driven around the track in. He'd also put a wooden "mat" down under the passengers feet to stop them getting too hot.

Last bit of Barries Race:
Barry - not THAT Barry - and Phil enjoy a well deserved win. Extra throttle when down in the tunnel towards the outer paddocks.
Chengs beastie resting.
Spot Richard and Jelly on the left. Happy Barry did a good job prepping the mighty Cob. Check those pipes!
On with the show: 275 to come.

And now for something completely different:
The #55 David Hart & Francesco Pastorelli Ferrari 275 GTB yum.
Stunning looking Fcar - 60s fav - lapped the track in 3:02.
Finish was a dissapointing 51th place in the GT Sports Endurance Masters race . . .
. . . because it retired in the 5th lap ;( Ouch look at the office.
Could not resist a wide angle shot.
That's better.
Winner Spa6 Hrs.
