Puncture repair on run-flats?

Hi all,

Just posting a quick question here on behalf of my mother. She picked up a puncture yesterday, that is right in the middle of the contact patch, so would be no problem to repair on a standard tyre, but the chap at the tyre centre told her that you shouldn't repair run-flats. Can you tell me:

1. Is this true.
2. If so, why is this the case.
3. Are there any dangers associated with repair run-flats.
