I assume there are scheduling/planning/noise reasons why it can't be later in the year.
Its more of the case work on FOS starts... now! only 12 weeks away from the normal early July date.. a few weeks later this year however..

Glad to see that , amidst all the moaning and sniping , I wasn't the only one who had a bloody brilliant weekend. So what if it was a bit chilly , it just added to the feeling of camaraderie amongst everybody there.

My location means this was a 700mile round trip but easy enough ; just some heavy traffic on A3 on Friday in 17C warmth. I knew it was going to be cold so took 4x4 . Arrived circuit 7am both days , no queue in or out. Bit muddy and would have been iffy in the MX5 but no issues at all, And just fabulous cars and racing - the VSCC lot bonkers as ever, GP 5 and F5000 lovely and some superb driving. Best of all the viewing is not buggered around by catch fencing and massive run off and hence is nearly as good as Cadwell .

Read on another thread how some misery guts was disappointed it hadn't been cancelled - he sounds fun , no ? And I would pay a lot to hear him say the same to the guys who had brought their Begg F5000 cars from New Zealand ....

Well it was an interesting drive down - the snow going through Hindhead was pretty bad, roads were slippery. The old classic Range Rover though on all-season tyres was epic, and never slipped once. The same couldn't be said for a lot of other cars, that we drove round. Once we were past Fernhurst though, the roads were pretty clear.

The Meeting itself I thought was coping admirably well - as above the queue for the car park looked minimal, we continued on and parked in the Chicane Paddock as planned - the chap on the gate let the old Rangie in.

After breakfast in the great hall, we wandered round all the paddocks, and the Bonhams enclosure, but unfortunately despite layering up, Dad felt the cold a bit too much, and we left at lunchtime Sunday. Thankfully excellent coverage on the website and ITV4 meant we didn't miss too much racing.

I'll be there again next year... Dad might have to give it a miss if it's that cold again.

Hats off to all at Goodwood for running an almost full event despite the challenging weather.

Who would have thought on Friday night that all bar the Bikes would have run and that we would have had such fabulous racing?

Yes it was cold but the weather is always a bit of a lottery. If it had been on the Thur/Fri we would have been saying how wonderful it was for the time of year!

It's easy to criticise and complain but in the end it's a unique event and long may it continue.smile

Agreed - a great event.

I wore multiple layers (including multiple socks) and managed to stay warm. The Goodwood team were superb - it cannot have been easy for those marshalling or manning the car parks.
