Managed to find my waterproof over trousers this morning. Got to work toasty warm and dry, apart from my feet. Shoes wedged up behind my PC tower, the hot air from the back of that should dry them out nicely for the ride home smile

Need to get a new pair of sealskinz socks or similar I think!

Remember: Rule #9.

Gutted - absolutely bone dry up here in Manchester. It was the first outing for my new Goretex shoes (Northwave Celcius), I was hoping to give them a good test.

Waterproof shoes are okay but don't they just fill up with sweat?

No more so than any other shoe, Goretex is a breathable fabric. In all honesty water resistance is not the main reason I've bought them - it's about not getting frostbite when it starts getting colder. I've put up with overshoes for the last few years, but they never really last as I have a city commute (constantly putting my foot down), plus it's a pain getting them on and off. Whilst my feet may get damp in the new shoes, the reviews suggest they'll stay toasty warm. There are 2 things that I hate about winter riding and that's cold feet and cold hands, I can cope with everything else. Both are now hopefully sorted for the 2014/2015 winter commute.

I had to cycle in today to take the Zanmoof Electrified back to the shop.

I got soaked and my cycle gear and towel are now in the laundry across the road from the office.

I was surprised at just how much oil there is on the road. It shows up easily in such wet conditions and really makes me slow down!!

Finally finished reading the whole thread, very good read. One thing I did notice was that there seem to have been a fair number of crashes or almost left hooks (myself included) involving Peugeot 206's. Is this the default car choice for the biggest muppets on the roads?
1/ Citroen Picasso
2/ Nissan Qasqai
3/ Any vehicle with blacked out rear windows.
4/ Minicab
5/ BMW
6/ Audi
7/ Subaru WRX
8/ Royal Mail
9/ Police vehicles
10/ Everyone else.

I find the absolute worst driven cars out there are Vauxhall Astras. Mainly fked Mark IVs, but Mark Vs as well. Whenever I see one I brace myself for the inevitable dhead move. Today a Silver MkIV drove down the middle of the road, forcing me into the door zone, then a minute later a black V overtook then pulled in to let another car past right in front of me. I need a battering ram fitted to the front of this thing.

And tram lines! Even in the dry they are scary, road tyres drop in the line so have to be taken at an angle... bloody trams!

Anybody else completely lost their mojo lately? In the last 10 days I've done about 40 miles. Just can't be bothered!

lol I thought that this morning, pace was dropping...then I realised it was cold and pissing it down which might explain it

This morning was fun....less wind bit chillier, but lots lots more rain! Got soaked to the skin 4th ride in a row

DOnt mind really mind the rain as such, its just the ballache of drying out all your clothes after.

Anything with "Addison Lee" written on it is definitely top of that list!

Is S10 not being arsed not a sign of the apocalypse?

I am actually quite keen to get weaving - just no potential too.

This. I don't mind the rain either, I just can't stand putting soggy clothes on at the end of the day.

No, it's buses I hate. I'd let electric cars into bus lanes and ban the buses. They are a crazy form of transport.

I've just brought in a couple of old pairs of shorts and some old sport socks for just this reason. My locker room here does a pretty good job of drying most of it out but the recent rain has been too much.

The 13th October 2014 will go down as the wettest day by far (over the last 4 years of cycling to work). Strong NE winds, torrential driving rain heading to work and again on the home trip - never had such weather for both trips and rain that's been as heavy for the whole duration of cycling. I was dry from the waist up, don't bother with waterproof trousers just my trusty 3 year old Altura ultra light jacket. Though at the end of my 30 min 9 mile home trip the zip had just started to let water through.

It was a bit of an experience.

Yes, some areas got a whole month's worth of rain yesterday I hear.

Didn't cycle myself, but did see a couple of brave souls out there. Respect is due!
