Just wondering if any on has had any experience with these kind of companies? or know of others

They generally work by u paying an upfront fee, you then get a number of points or tokens to use to hire a numbers of cars from the companies range. Depending on the type of car that you hire and day of the week it cost you more point or less.

I know Track Club that does this are there others does any body have experience of this type of scheme?

Thanks

I'd be interested as well. I know that there is the "Classic Car Club" www.classiccarclub.co.uk/

But I have just heard that the Manchester and Birmingham branches have just gone belly up but there are still ones in London Edinburgh and a few other places. Looked really good as well.

I was just about to join these so it may be a mixed blessing.

There is aslo P1 but that is megabucks.

It's normally the case the clubs like P1, Classic Car Club won't allow their machinery out on track days.

There are clubs (sort of) that will allow machinery out on track days like trak-share but you normally have to have one of their instructors/support staff with you i.e. the car is not, in the strictest sense, yours for the day.

As far as I am aware we (track-club) are the only club where the car is yours for the day (i.e. no instructor etc).

Generally speaking most clubs/hire outfits are also "arrive/drive" which means the company transports the car to and from the track and then provides on the day support.

You may find that your options are limited by a) what it is that you want to drive and b) whether the club/hire provider will allow that machinery out on track.

There are a number of top end companies such as P1 & Revo. Autopia which was looking more at the middle ground does not appear to have gotten off the ground.

track-club is the only one focused on track use but I think the classic car club are planning on running the odd track event based on member demand although not in CCC cars.

All of these types of business are reliant on the members treating it like a club and respecting the clubs investment, this is what we are trying to achive at track club and we already have many members organising days together, sharing cars, undertaking driving courses etc.

I don't really know what the Birmingham and Manchester issues were with CCC but they have an excellent product and when you do the sums honestly club membership is pretty much a no brainer if weighed up against the costs of using your own dedicated 'toy' on X number of days per year.

That said it's equally easy to compare it against running a toy that you use on a more regular basis and then the sums don't stack up.

What you are buying however is a freedom to choose different cars every day and total piece of mind i.e. no need to worry about unexpected bills, insurance, depreciation etc. That along with the social aspect is the real benefit of the clubs and more people that you think actualy combine both i.e. they run their own 'toy' and keep up a club membership.
