What would you do?

There's a raft of voluntary stuff you can do that'll be far more rewarding that joining the army. It's still just a job. Do something for a charity or organisation that helps others; do something truly philanthropic.
You could set up a scholarship for under-privileged kids wanting to study something that interests you. You could take extended holidays to do some aid work. Join a search and rescue team. With that amount of cash at your age, you have a lot of options.
Ive been thinking of doing charity,i used to work weekends at the local hospice (mum, nan and sister have all had/have cancer) so was close to me,never done anything for kids though. You could set up a scholarship for under-privileged kids wanting to study something that interests you. OP, what is it that you dont like about your current job?
Theres not alot i can say without it sounding pathetic, but i started close protection.obviously for the money, but also for the excitement. Im not saying i want to be shot dead, but ive had a few 'experiences',and now normal day to day life is dull and tedious,i dont know if its just current clients though. I suppose im just toying with the idea of leaving, maybe i wrote it on a st day i dont know. Yes,the moneys great, brilliant in fact, but i want a job i enjoy doing, something as i said 'worthwhile', i have 14 month left on my mortgage and no finance/loans etc,so £20k i could survive on,and no its not a 'look at what i earn' post as previously said, its a 'talk to others, see different points of view' post. Thanks all for any input given.

If you can afford it, then anyone should do a job they would be happy in (but key is being able to afford it)
Sorry OP I don't believe a 23 yr old (unless pro sportsman or city whizz kid) is on anywhere near £200k.
No offence, yes £200k is alot of money, but its £4000ish a week,im sure you can think of many jobs that would pay that,if not,im sure someone would help you.Sorry OP I don't believe a 23 yr old (unless pro sportsman or city whizz kid) is on anywhere near £200k.
With all respect i earn my money,i do it honestly, and in my eyes i deserve it for the job i do. I wont provide details, but i deserve it. My sister was earning just over £1000 a week when she was 21 (8 years ago) its not impossible, different jobs pay different wages, higher risks pay higher wages.
I agree 1110000% police/fire/army etc are underpaid btw.

And started a thread about saving £400-500 a month despite clearing £6k PCM!
OP seems genuine enough though so I don't doubt him.
To put away for my Nephew... and a lad i grew up with from about 5 year old gave me the contact for the job im in now,so i guess it was a 'its not what you know its who you know' situation, yes i broke my hand, yes i have a criminal record, yes i left the army, yes i anted to join the TA(and would have but it was when the budget cuts came about and they werent enlisting til April the following year,by then things came up)... i don't see what you are hoping to achieve? do you want me to say "Dammit you got me,im lying,i spend the little spare time i have asking people i dont know and will never meet to give me advice? Lets face it, many of you think that because im "only 23" theres no possibility that i could be earning that, because ive only been doing it 2 years i couldnt be charging that,i earn my wage as i have 2 high risk clients, its a live in occupation,5 weeks on,2weeks off, if you worked 5 weeks,24 hours a time, would you not want compensating well for it?OP seems genuine enough though so I don't doubt him.
