Been busy few weeks..
Seen off a few decent bottles with friends...
Glenmorangie 25 (sublime, must get more, or at least some signet)...
Dalmore King Alexander (quite nice but not awesome but somehow brilliant with cigars)
Glenfarclas 15 (sulphurous and disgusting hope it's a dodgy bottle and nobody actually thought this was a saleable commodity...)
Looking forward to a Talisker 25 and a Jura Superstition and a Penderyn sherry finish...

Ended up at a Glenfiddich tasting on Thursday, which was fab.
Nice to try everything back to back - 12 through to 18. Got to see the new 18 bottle and sample the lovely brand new 26.
Another two weeks and it's the PH whisky tasting night
ETA - the new 18 bottle

Well as promised it was taken to Canada and opened and shared with friends..it's now half gone..
It's lovely, and lovely in a peaty kind of way. Outstanding flavours - coats the inside of your mouth with a lovely lining. So much so we dug out some chocolate and tried it with the whisky. Lush.
As a comparison we also drank Glenrothes 1991 and a Bowmore limited edition from Master of the Malts. All in all - a lovely evening was had.
Podie - if I remember I'll take you a sample if you haven't tried the Supernova yet to your whisky sampling.

Auriverdes and PC6 this evening.
I have been trying to reduce my open bottles down to zero before opening any more. Managed to get through around 20 odd since June and only have around six more to go. Then I can open another 30 or so!
I have also found my favorite whisky for sale. The Yamazaki 1990 Sherry butt. I knew it would be expensive but it currently up to 700 Euros with two days left on the auction. Gulp.

Some Tun 1509 in the latest auction for price reference in the future, which is always interesting

went to the manchester whisky festival yesterday. Was very busy, which regulated intake to a far more sensible level. Many many beards, quite a lot of women there too. Many twenty and thirty somethings. Some notables:
- Paul John isn't a made up name to sound british, it's genuinely the indian whisky distiller's chairman's name. Oops.
- Paul John says as it's hotter in India, the whisky matures faster, so a 5 year old is like a 15 year old. Lol, nice try.
- Virgin Oak casks are not all that. The same for organic.
- Sherry and port casks are good
- Bottling companies are pointless as far as the whisky drinker is concerned
- Diplomatico 12y.o. rum is very nice indeed, sweet, smooth
- Beckham's Haig Club - I knew it would be st, I just wanted to see how st. It's very st. Completely bland, tastes of nothing. The tasting host even described as an "entry level whisky" although I nearly cried when he described whisky as being "so on trend". £50 for a st blend with a gurning celeb endorsement cash cow attached. Scandalous.
- Tequila and islay whisky old fashioned is my new favourite man cocktail

The regulations regarding production are clear.
