After being inspired by the crispy chick pea post here I tried it today using salt, pepper and Korean bbq spice.
Delicious, unfortunately they didnt last long enough to photograph!

I've now done them a couple of times and highly recommend them. Healthy too.

Chickepeas?
How long?
What temp?
200, canned, 20 mins, shake them every 5 mins
In a Ninja, this is waaay too much. 10 minutes would be more than sufficient. 20 minutes @ 200° and they're inedible.

My first time they needed 5 sessions of 5 mins at 200. Second time was the same.
They're crunchy, but need to be IMO, but are far from inedible.

Deffo depends on the quality of them, found the larger ones come out better…but just shape every 5 and test smile

I can only eat them with mayo. Otherwise, they're like wood.

I did 200c for about 12mins, salted first, then added pepper and Korean bbq spice about half way through to stop it burning the spices.

I did some maintenance on one of the old cars over the weekend, I cleaned and sprayed a few engine components including the fan pulley and alternator bracket in satin black paint.

Noticing the "bake" setting on the Ninja, the small compartment was ideal to bake and harden the paint at a low temperature setting! smile

First foray with a really cheap airfryer over the last 2 weeks to see if it worked for us,(£30 4.5 litre Masterchef number from The Factory Shop) and the results are good so looking at a proper one.

Has anyone got one of these yet, fits better in my kitchen than the side by side ones and has the right capacity for 4, the test one isn't quite cutting it size wise.

Please tell me it's a hot hatch! wink

OK, so we bought this thing to make easier food for the children, including vegetable crisps etc. I am underwhelmed, as frankly I get better results for things like roast potatoes in the oven (unsurprising as I bathe the buggers in fat).

I am after easy air fryer stuff that is tasty, please, PH Brain. Yes, you can do the equivalent of deep fried food in them, but we don't really deep fry anything (I will admit that my toasties are almost an oven shallow fry, mind smile ), so healthier air fryer chicken nuggets/chips s not a thing for me.

I have found that this will do pork belly astoundingly well, though, and quickly. I have got perfect crackling out of it time and time again, it even does sliced pork belly well - the trick is coating it in spices and oil, and marinating, then cooking the meat from room temp.

But I'd like inspiration please! I'm a keen cook, so the air fryer isn't the revelation that I think they can be to people who don't like cooking. But I also know ow I am not using it to its full potential...yes, it's just a mini convection oven. But I jeep hearing how people swear by them, and I'm not really that convinced, yet.

Other thread.

Here is a recipe I stuck in on page 14.
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

However as you can read earlier in that thread, roasties in the oven can't be beaten, and wedges too, though does assume the cook knows what they're doing.

Sidebar, state of potatoes today. Fed up of chopping and carving out the black parts.

This may be sacrilegious, but I wonder how it would cope with something like a tomahawk steak.

I’m a big advocate of air fryers, but don’t put a decent beef steak anywhere near one. I tried and frankly the results were very poor.

Steaks are much better cooked in a good heavy pan / skillet.

But why should they shut down this thread?
