Evening gents, I'm not sure whether this belongs in Home and Hi-Fi, Computer games, or Gadgets and stuff! Seems best here though....

I've just got a new amp with 5.1 surround and HDMI input/output etc (Yamaha HTR-3063), and want to connect it to my PS3, as well as other sources. The amp cannot decode HD sound (the only drawback), so what's the best way of outputting?

Currently, I have the HDMI going into the Amp and then to the TV, and the audio coming out of Optical and have bridged to the two connections.

When I look in the "sound" settings in the PS3, there are various options for outputting sound, such as Bitstream or PCM/Linear PCM. What would be the best option for me to use? Linear PCM, so the PS3 does the decoding and passes it to the amp?

I've done various searches (including in other forums) and they are very contradicting. Just hoping for a clear answer (if that's possible!).

I just want to hear HD/Surround sound from GT5 and Blue Ray movies!

Cheers for your help gents
