Sub cable...oops!

Like a right tt, i've just realized the cable I've bought and laid under my new carpet may not be suitable for the Sub.
This is the original thread,it was regarding the Van Damme studio speaker cable after hearing great reviews.

Now, after just having a demo at Hifi gear in Glos,I've just realized the Sub is a totally different connection (single) compared to the cable (2x2.5) I've had laid.
Question is, to save ripping the carpet back up & buying a Sub cable, can I still use a suitable Sub plug on both ends of the excisting Van Damme 2x2.5 cable I've laid? This is the cable:
