The Walking Dead returns tonight! - No SPOILERS

I'll be interested to see how the boat thing pans out. It's a go to answer when people ask, "how do you survive an apocalypse?"
Definitely agree that they could've gone big with the beginnings of the outbreak, but it all happened really quietly and then suddenly cordoned off. They did have a decent horde that escaped the stadium though, which was quite fun.

Or don't move Maggie, instead take a faster car (instead of the slow RV) go to Hilltop and bring the Dr back to Alexandria.
The Hilltop is a different city-state, who've entered into a shakey alliance based on Rick destroying Negan's lot. I don't see Hilltop's slimy boss assisting Rick's lot too much now.theboss said:
What pissed me off about the finale was the total fixation on getting Maggie to the hilltop when it should have seemed very suddenly obvious that there were more saviours than they'd anticipated, at which point it would seem very likely that the collusion between Rick and the hilltop community was known, and that they'd have ransacked the place or at least would have been keeping a close eye on it. So how on earth did they think they were going to get there and find a peaceful moment for the doctor to do the business?
I 'half' watched the penultimate episode & the season finale last night, found it all quite dull, kept wondering why they didn't just turn around and head back to a more Alexandira and meet Negan's boys on their own terms...I'd like to hope that Negan takes out 2 or 3 of Ricks gang, but it will be probably be just one...
I think it would have been better if he had forced Rick's lot to choose who - a bit like the "I got this" scene in Sons of Anarchy.

A bit off topic, but Fear the Walking Dead I believe starts this Sunday.
It seems to be continuing in the same disappointing vein as it followed for most of the first season. Annoying whiny teens doing really dumb stuff and not a whole lot going on considering that we are supposedly in the middle of the fall of civilisation. Also, it seems strangely disjointed like a lot of stuff is ending up cut.
Also agree with earlier comments about why TWD lot took most of their best people to get Maggie to a place that's inherently unsecured when it became clear how comprehensively Negan had them out-matched and pretty much surrounded. The prudent decision would've been to retreat and dig in at Alexandria ready for battle. Yes it would be sad to lose Maggie BUT the needs of the many etc. Now they're ALL in the st.

6 measly episodes from the first signs of an outbreak to the cast fleeing an annihilated Los Angeles on boat. 6 episodes.
And half of those were spent caged into a tiny suburb where they decorated their homes to pass time
Opportunity missed is a huge understatement. They could've done at least 1 full season of negotiating and moving around a heavily infested LA, I always imagined scenes similar to the video game Dying Light - people jumping between car roofs surrounded by dozens of zombies, running through malls and big buildings. Basically like the Atlanta parts on TWD.
But instead there were a few walkers, some arsey soldiers, angsty teenagers and now they're on a boat
Yeah, but creating a realistic depiction of a big city falling into chaos would have required lots of $$$$s and I get the impression AMC are trying to do milk the popularity of TWD by doing a spinoff on a tight budget. And half of those were spent caged into a tiny suburb where they decorated their homes to pass time

That said, as seen on 'Talking Dead' behind-the-scenes they seemed to spend a lot on making an aquatic set for the boat and filming it in a huge water tank, so presumably they will be utilising the ocean-based setting for some major story-telling.
Yeah, hopefully. Could result in something similar to Dead Island
I think FTWD appears more 'low budget', probably because as you say, doing big city scenes would be much more expensive (than filming in the woods like the main show).
The biggest problem of FWTD for me is the cast, not a single one are as interesting as even the most zombie-fodder of TWD characters.

That first smaller group of saviours in the last walking dead. The savior with receding hairline who did all the talking. He looks and sounds exactly like Trevor from GTA V. Anyone know if I'm right?
It actually is Trevor! He was in better call Saul as a Trevor-esque character too!
Caught up finally!
I can totally see some points from people. My take is Neegans lot have been watching Ricks lot for a while. Maybe they felt they wouldn't attack so when they did attack the outpost it caught them off guard so they started getting closer and attempting to take some out while they were scouting (hence them getting Daryl and co)
Neegan seems to understand how to control people, so he knew he had to break the group, so setting up the road blocks was all part of the game, leaving them onto the zombie chain showing they had their guys, then a bigger showing of muscle, ending with the scene with the hanging man. Then they clearly were following the RV and when they dropped Rick and chums off they simply stopped the rv up the way a bit and then grabbed Rick and co, leading onto Neegans scene with them.
You could see it worked, Rick was totally beyond rational thought. Break the leader and leave him alive then at best the group simply falls into line and at worst a few break off to deal with Neegan, which of course fails due to sheer numbers.
Ricks got cocky. He thought they were the highest on the food chain, after killing the wolves, saving Alexandria and killing the small group of savoiours he felt unstoppable. But he weakness is he cares about his people. Which was what Karen was talking about. If you care about people its never going to end well. Ricks group throught the were top dog, and were determined to save Maggie. Where as Neegan wouldn't give 2 stuffs about his group. That's why they kept on going when they could see how deep they were, they still thought they could win. Neegans play has left Rick in a mess. Now as far as Neegan is concerned hes got more workers, but has proved he will kill anyone of them if they step out of line.
Who he killed has got me stumped, I think as has been said they wont have filmed anyone getting whacked yet, so its open. It wont be Rick or Coral, I doubt its the fella from Alexandria, also Maggie is safe. It has to be Darryl, Ginger or Glenn surely?
