I thought it was great. And, perhaps unfortunately, Ezra is great in the role. Regarding the pronoun but it’s interesting that they are actually they in the film. I wondered if that was deliberate as it’s not that way in the source material.
There’s loads of little Easter eggs for those who like that sort of thing and I could have spent the film with the characters introduced at the start.
The ‘running’ cgi at the start was great as well. It’s a far better looking film than anything the MCU have given us since Endgame as well.
This deserves to do well. Very enjoyable and bodes well for DC moving forward. The end of the film was great. The post credit scene was, for me, somewhat wasted.

Saw it Friday. If you haven't watched it, what are you doing on this thread!! Leave now, don't ruin it for yourself....

I really enjoyed it. Is it the best superhero movie ever made? No. Not even in the conversation. Is it top 5? No. Is it a hell of a lot of fun, bridging the gap from Snyder to Gunn DC world and the best DC film we've had for years? Yes.

Miller as Flash is excellent, as they always have been. Plays the role perfectly. Everyone in this is great to be honest, but Miller is on screen as two Barry's for almost all the film and not once did I notice. They play the two versions perfectly with subtle differences.

This film takes one of the most difficult comic book stories to adapt for screen and does it in a way that people who've never heard of flashpoint will be engaged but comic book fans will be frothing at the details. So many deep cuts.

Keaton is awesome, it was so good to see his Batman in modern action. Reminds you why he's consistently considered the GOAT when it comes to Batman, but Afflecks scenes were a great way to say goodbye to the character (maybe?). Loved the lasso of truth bit, even more so as it seems a deliberate dig at the scene whedon forced I to Justice League that stuck out so badly. Plus, blue and grey suit FTW.

I really wanted more Super girl and I hope we do see more of her, in such a short space of time she did a lot with the role to differentiate her from Clark. Fingers crossed.

The film also shows how to deal with a multiverse story and actually have consequences. Rather than having the multiverse as a way to get people in and then have no stakes.

I spent a lot of the film wondering what spoilers exactly I was staying away from as 3/4 of the film were unsurprising based on the trailers, but then you enter the last quarter of the film and it's all clear. Again, some deep comic book lore being put on screen for the first time. Shows the film was made by people who have a deep understanding of the universe their playing in.

I've seen loads of discussion about the CGI and I'm split. I've read the look is done on purpose to show the world from Barry's perception and I can see that as it has a consistent look to it. Like it's obviously CG. I can accept that because it is consistent throughout the film unlike some recent Marvel films where the odd scene of effect sticks out. This is a certain look to the whole world at times when Barry is moving through the speed force. There's a huge amount of effects that you don't even notice so it does seem to track with the reason. It didn't pull me out of the film.

Lastly, and please don't read this if you've not seen it....

I genuinely shouted wtf at the ending. In a good way. Couldn't believe it, absolutely loved it and can't believe it was kept a secret. Brilliant end to the film.

People seem to be looking for reasons to hate this film and call it DCs downfall and honestly they're crazy. This was a film stuck in development for a decade, then hit with COVID, plus the studio switch and all the drama with the direction the universe was taking and still came out being a fun and enjoyable film that plays to the general audience and the biggest comic book fan.

There's something for everyone and if you have zero fun watching this, you shouldn't be watching superhero films.

I saw it today. It didn't suck, though it isn't great. It was great to see Michael Keaton back as Batman. The best thing about the movie, for me. Barry/Flash is annoying, and two of them is worse. Supergirl is very pretty, but it is barely a speaking part and she looks half CGI half the time.

The plot is Flash going back in time to save his mom, and the "butterfly effect" his actions cause. Almost everything is different in the new timeline, and when Zod comes calling there is no Superman to stop him terraforming the Earth. So what can Flash and junior Flash do?

On the plus side there is Batman and lots of Easter Eggs and cameos, to the negative there are lots of CGI battles and the emotional side of the core plot is pretty heavy handed, and it is quite long.

I agree with most of the above - it is a good film, very enjoyable, despite Miller's presence. He's a scumbag in real life, but his acting stands up well in this. Interesting how Miller still appears to be hanging in there - I suspect the likes of Kevin Spacey et al would have stopped the film in its tracks or at the very least led to huge re-shoots. One rule for they.....

Loved the (sort of) appearance of Nic Cagetoo.

A missed opportunity. They could have done so much more with that!

I saw up to when they released Super Girl before stomach issues from the night before forced me to leave.

I thought it was a typical DC film. A bit of a confused mess with way too much CGI.

I'll wait to watch the rest when it comes to one of the usual sources.

It was enjoyable, no more, no less.
Keaton and Supergirl were the highlights.
Ezra did well and it was a goldmine for Easter eggs. The CGI was poor as others have said.

The issue DC have, is they can't world build like Marvel, good ideas that won't ever progress like the end of Synder's JL. The film's end up being a mess instead of being part of a wider arc.

Even these films will be rebooted soon once Gunn gets going, so it's hard to be excited for anything that gets put out until then.

Plenty of that sort of reaction going around, it's very left field. The thing is, it's surely a bit pointless as it's not going to continue going forward?

Most of the 'bad CGI' was in the speed effect scenes with the orange lit characters circled around him. If it was meant to look like an old Playstation game cutscene, they nailed it, but some other effect could have worked a lot better. But there was some other bad stuff outside that, one scene when the Barrys were together, one in front of the other and out of focus, the actor was standing behind in focus, CG Barry standing in front of him just didn't look right, putting him out of focus didn't help. I think it was a scene with Michael Keaton before he got cleaned up, it stood out because the other Barry and Barry stuff looked good.

I did like the film though, it was a fun one.

I know that DC can't really do what Marvel have done with everything interconnected and a main arc. We'll see what James Gunn does, but I like the idea of the stories not being closely connected or in the same universe. 'The Batman' and 'Joker' aren't connected to anything else but they're all from DC as a basis When Joker 2 comes along there are going to be 2 Harley Quinns, at least 2 Jokers if Jared Leto is still part of the Snyderverse, The Flash ups the Batman count a lot hehe . It's kind of but not quite like Cloverfield films or Black Mirror, they're separate stories loosely linked to each other through a character or bits of tech.

Apparently, there were 3 different endings at different times, not sure if they were all shot but they kept changing it based on the studio changes until they got to Gunn and Safran. I agree it clearly won't go anywhere but it was a nice touch, a bit cathartic perhaps and proof that anything could happen moving forward.

From Gizmodo:

"In its original version, Barry would’ve met with Keaton’s Batman and Supergirl (Sasha Calle) at the courthouse, indicating that he hadn’t reset the timeline quite like he thought he had. This would’ve reversed their deaths from earlier in the film, and it was the ending that had been screen tested several times. In the second version, Supergirl would’ve been joined by Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman (the latter appeared earlier in the movie), while Keaton remained as Batman. In Supergirl’s case, this would’ve left open the door for Calle to return (since her solo film had already been junked), since the producers didn’t want audiences’ last memory of the character to be her getting killed by General Zod."

This film has effectively cleaned the slate and written Millers Flash off. Based on his ending up in an alternate reality. As confirmed by the Bruce he meets.
They can pick up a ‘new’ DC universe from anywhere at this point, with all new actors. If they want to bring anyone back down the road, they’ve left the way open for it.
What comes next will be interesting but I entirely don’t see the point of Blue Beetle. A film that might have worked 20 years ago.

I watched it last night with my son, whilst I enjoyed the film, I couldn't enjoy it to its fullest as I forgot to take my glasses with me so it was slightly fuzzy.

Out on Sky Movies now. Watched it just now, thoroughly enjoyed it. Will watch again to pick up the little bits I missed throughout (there was a lot going on). Decent effort.

I watched this again on Sky. It’s far better than the critics would have had you believe. Probably the best DC movie post Nolan.
