Game of Thrones - vol II - NO SPOILERS

THat's it. ONce the show was free of the legacy storylines, stuff 'just happened', to suit the plot or just be cool. The Vale army turning up in the North within 10 minutes of when they're needed, a thousand miles away, guess the Twins weren't important anymore, or the fact that the Boltons held Moat Cailin, and there were twenty other examples, the show lost all internal logic. It was really disappointing.
The Vale Army had set off ages before though, scene with Littlefinger and Prince Bitty when LF manipulated Bitty to help Sansa. Also they are already the right side of the River so don't need to cross it at the Twins, just take the Kings Road and as for Moat Cailin, although the Vale had no dispute with the Boltons so they could have just passed without problems I suspect reinforcements were taken from there to bolster Ramsay's army when he lost so many fighting Stannis and those remaining were swept aside very easily.FourWheelDrift said:

I wasn't sure on the twins. But there's no way that an army passes Moat Cailin, armies don't move into others territory for fun, no army would be allowed past MC, plus the Boltons would have known, there is no logic to think any reinforcements had to be moved, ignoring what time they arrived, the show dispensed with that years ago, when the 100,000 army of the Tyrells magically disappears. The show has always played fast and lose with numbers, in S1/2, the Freys give 1 or 2 thousand men, but then in S3, Robb claims the biggest army not yet deployed are the Freys, but even references to numbers were dropped later on when he writers didn't care to keep track. THis is just one exmaple; sam fixing a disease never cured by reading a book, overnight, Gendry running faster than Bolt for miles, the dragons arriving in the nick of time again, because it's 'cool.' Euron whizzing around a continent the aize of S AMerica, LF and his teleportation device, being in MOles town, wth? Little Arya sparrign with huge brienne and using live steel, but for more 'coolness' and fan service, not to mentionthe terminator chase from s6. All the chat in the north about kings and succession. THe show lost all internal logic.I'll still watch S8, for closure (and the fact that S1-4 were thebest things on telly) and to give me an idea how the books will go
So funny.

My thoughts exactly.
In S7E8 there is a scene where the Unsullied and Dothraki approach a Lannister held cardboard castle, with Jamie being told by Bronn that they are f
ked. In the very next scene Jamie is in Kings Landing talking to Cersie. Q1, what castle was it? Q2 What happened? Q3, how did that 5 minutes make it though the editing suite without someone saying WTF we missed half the show out?
That was Kings Landing, the Dothraki and Unsullied were outside the walls of the City.In S7E8 there is a scene where the Unsullied and Dothraki approach a Lannister held cardboard castle, with Jamie being told by Bronn that they are f

One of the things about the dothraki that annoyed me was how blondi with no ships was able to transport them from dragonstone to the reach and then back again.

Anyone been watching the repeats on SA, S1 is soooooo good, and S2 has it's moments too, Tyrion as the hand. ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Not sure I've even missed it this year, probably the dread of how it'll be wrapped up.![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Not sure if I have posted this, but I reckon GRR is keeping the book back till S8 airs, so as to not steal it's thunder.

Positive thinking. I think he is nowhere near complete personally. ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

Can't say i'm fussed though. The show is much more exciting than the books. They were a drag at times.

Catching them off and on - but wasn't keen on Joffrey first time round (I know he's not 'crowd favourite' at the best of times) - but no redeeming features whatsoever: he's just evil without any art or guile to it: at least Bolton had style, even if it was somewhat gruesome. ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

The thing that strikes me whenever I see an early episode is the skill/luck in casting the Stark children (including JS), those that have survived have literally grown up in front of our eyes.
I'm not saying I'd be looking to have a pint with Ramsey or that he was vaguely a good guy or even a dark/light character that GRRM apparently favours, just that there was cunning and intellect - but used for sadistic sport and personal gain.
As you say, Joffery was a spoilt child, run to mummy or the nearest hired muscle if anyone defied him.

Are there any other people that have not watched game of thrones yet?
I seemingly have an unconscious routine of automatically judging and writing off most TV shows, for example, I didn't watch sons of anarchy til 2 years ago. Boardwalk empire I have only just started watching a few months ago!
I haven't actually watched an episode of GoT yet, but I have watched a (big) bucket load of YouTube videos.. How wrong I was to write it off thinking it was just another dungeons and dragons fantasy type crap!
Could anybody tell me should I read the books first and then watch. Or better to watch then read?
I can already see the sopranos being shunted down to number 2 on my list of favourite TV shows.
Cleganebowl by itself is worth the wait for the final season.. I really REALLY want Arya to cross off all the names on her list, leading to her claim the Iron Throne..
What an amazing show, I could never get into the genre until now. Got to be odds on favourite for a spinoff or two?
(I am hoping Bronn will get his castle!)

I think it had the chance to overtake Sops...or for me, was actually in the triumvirate of HBO's crown; Sopranos, Wire and GoT, but post series 5 GoT fell out of that. I still recall watching the first vignette (Ned on the Iron Throne) way back and thinking this looks good, the post series 1 I checked all the other fantasy stuff on tv...it's all s

on the books they have lots of depth, and lots of other stuff going on, I believe the first media you experience the story in will influence which you prefer, in series 1-4 there were a lot of visual hints to stuff explained in the books, it really was so clever.
the first spinoff is currently being cast
