Logan Lucky (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5439796)
Kinda like Oceans 11 with hillbillies and slightly less polish but more V8s.

Channing Tatum and Adam Driver are great fun to watch, Daniel Craig like you've never seen him and an unrecognisable Seth McFarlane.

You warm to the characters, you want to see them succeed, you want to know whether they'll get away with it.

Some laugh out loud funny moments especially with Adam Driver.
7.5/11 Well worth a watch.

Out of the Furnace (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1206543)
Casey Affleck and Christan Bale put in very strong performances about the choices of unskilled labour in the Rust Belt. Notable mentions also for Deforest Whittaker and Zoe Saldana.

Should be available on Sky Movies - bleak, but strong stuff. Gripping.

8/13.

The Hitman's Bodyguard

Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L being Samuel L. Pretty decent action film with a fair few funny lines and scenes. Don't go into it expecting anything more than a decent way to cheer yourself up after a crappy weekend.

7/10.

I've been waiting to see Kingsman for a while and it didn't disappoint. For sure, it's silly post-modern James Bond for the YouTube generation, but it had a little style, a lot of fun and a better than average plot. Jane Goodman's fingerprints were all over it (not a bad thing), and the music was nicely chosen. 8/10

Looking forward to Wind River. Jeremy Renner seems to be doing some great films, just had a re-watch of The Bourne Legacy, Hurt Locker and Arrival

We watched a Spanish film called 'The Invisible Guest' last night (it's on Netflix), a murder mystery thriller, both really enjoyed it.

I was channel surfing the other day and happened to come across a film with James Mason in it, and it struck me how accurate Eddie Izzard's impression of James Mason is. biggrin

IT (new version).

Not a real fan of horror genre, but this was as good as the reviews say it is, and surprisingly funny throughout. Even thou it's been out a few days, the cinema was absolutely packed.

9/10

(Score based on just a few horror films I've ever seen).

Blues Brothers.

Damn this film still has it even after all these years. Great score - shame only 50% or less of the cast is still about! I know it shouldn't be surprising but the change in the chicago skyline over that times is extraordinary.

8/10

(It could do with being a little shorter in length).

Just come out of it; wow! If you liked Sicario you will love Wind River. Just like The Revanant, the cinematography chills you to the bone.

We also watched a Spanish film last (on iPlayer) and also really enjoyed it: "I'm so excited!"
Different genre, though: a sex comedy, but several steps up from the "Confessions of a .." A great laugh and surprisingly well acted for this type of film.

IT - was SO looking forward to this, having been a fan of both the book and the 1990 film/mini-series. Saw it at the cinema this morning - had the whole theatre to myself, and being so dark and quiet before the film started was creepy enough in itself - very surreal feeling! Anyway, whilst I enjoyed it, I felt the film lacked the creepiness and the character development that the old version had - it relied a lot more on jump scares and seemed to be just a sequence of scares without the substance of the story behind it. It turns out that this was just Chapter One of the story so hopefully it will evolve more when it goes to chapter 2, as this first chapter is purely about the kids, rather than when they return as adults. All in all was worth watching, but considering I'd waited for years for this to come out, I couldn't help feeling a little underwhelmed. But I suppose it had a lot to live up to...
Interesting, i found this had alot more in common with the book than the series especially by portraying a true and believable bond amongst the characters, doing justice to georgies death and pennywise was also closer to the description from the book also if i remember correctly,
The mini series didn't mention the trans-dimentional stuff, part 2 of the movie has been confirmed as delving into this so its already on the right track, although tim curry was great he was a fairly tame pennywise and was not particularly scary/threatening (with bill's version there is a genuine menace and threat), poor acting, missed a fair few plot points and resorted to ending the story using the worst looking "spider" i have ever seen, even the creators said it was completely different to the model they had in mind.

Safe to say, as a fan of the book, this hit the spot for me.

Intrigued by this as I loved Sicario, although Empire suggested Sheridan is a better writer than he is a director.

It's probably a nostalgia thing for me to be honest, and I probably 'bigged' it up too much in my mind before having seen it - On reflection, I probably enjoyed it more than I thought as I have since thought I'd like to see it again - I often find that I enjoy films more the second time around for some reason. Maybe because I have time to take in the detail rather than trying to just follow the story.

Watched "Big Fish" last night, daughters choice and a relative oldie.

I really enjoyed it, well made and who doesn't like Albert Finney!

Also made me realise that the coupe part of the Dodge Charger looks ungainly.............

Sicario last night. Very hard to watch sometimes. Excellent music and sound editing, the actors put a great job. Still, not for the faint hearted. Narcos is like a Mickey Mouse Club compared to this. Requires to pay full attention all along, mind.

I was going to not bother with Wind River, not had a lot of advertisement so thought not a lot of it, but after you saying this I'm going to have to watch it! Loved Sicario and Hell or High Water. A lot on I want to watch at the minute - Hitman's Bodygaurd, Logan Lucky, Limehouse Golem, American Made. Going to be a busy week!!

Law Abiding Citizen (2009)

Brilliant film I thought, well played by Butler. Really glued to the screen watching throughout!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Watched the DVD release last night, my second viewing after originally seeing it at the cinema with my nieces and nephew. Great comedic take on the super heroes genre, definite family viewing. The opening fight scene with the focus on Grut dancing and the battle as a backdrop is just hysterical.

Solid 8/10 for fun even re-watching.

Watched Kingsman for the first time.

Started well and I enjoyed the first half, then it all got a bit silly(er) and was like a poor copy of Austin Powers. It was almost like two directors were working on the two halves separately and they got mashed together at the end.

I saw Wind River last night; you need to go see it. Perfectly compliments his previous two movies as "people living surviving on the very edge of America's modern frontiers" kinda movies.
