How do we think EU negotiations will go? (Vol 2)
Discussion
Can you imagine if they were involved in any REAL negotiations ?
The amazing thing is that no-one ever seems to want to work towards negotiating any agreement over anything.
I wonder what would happen if the Real World Brexit negotiators took the same approach?
The only thing that bugs me (and only a very tiny bit) is that the thread poses a question that's been long forgotten.
"How do we think EU negotiations will go"?
In my opinion extremely slowly and frustratingly and with some pretty negative outcomes all round. (which is what I wanted to avoid and thus voted 'remain').
Anyway....back to 'how many angels can dance on the head of a pin'?

But why o WHY don't these skilled PH negotiators ever try to work towards any form of consensus? What do they think they'll achieve by continually reinforcing entrenched positions? Constant impasse? And what will that resolve?
God help us if the Real World "negotiations" take the same direction.
W-A-R !!!!!!! ( and I don't think the UK would win a war against the EU).

Yay.
I was hoping you had closed it.
You are not the only oneI was hoping you had closed it.
If you are participating and some tosspot keeps causing problems, that's for the mods to fix (i wish they would). If you aren't participating or don't see the point to the discussion, why do you care if a thread exists on the WWW?

I've never understood this mentality. No one is forcing you to read or participate in the discussion.

Well what IS the point? If you are participating and some tosspot keeps causing problems, that's for the mods to fix (i wish they would). If you aren't participating or don't see the point to the discussion, why do you care if a thread exists on the WWW?
Someone posts a thread with a question. And 500+ pages of posts later all that appears to have occurred at best is an endless outpouring of entrenched vapid dogma with only the most tenuous connection to the thread title whose central issue appears to have been long forgotten. Is this "discussion"? Seriously?
Such interesting crumbs as there are are like trying to find the meat on a KFC chicken wing.
Or is the point that there is no point and its just an outlet for silly quarrelsome people with nothing better to do?

You don;t think any interesting info has ever been posted?
In a more general answer, what is the point in any forum discussion? Why are you posting at all on this BBS?
Occasionally the thread threatens to go down an interesting road but it's very quickly returned to that tired old Remain v Leave quarrel which, frankly, has nothing interesting to commend it. Directly on the topic, no, I don't think any interesting info has emerged. Mind you, I don't think the participants have the skillsets to produce anything insightful on the matter and are far happier arguing whether or not their basic position on Brexit is the least wrong one. Perhaps it would be different if we had input from skilled negotiators or even people with basic negotiating skills (rather than 3rd year debating class tedium). But we don't. Do we?In a more general answer, what is the point in any forum discussion? Why are you posting at all on this BBS?
What would YOU say has evolved from the 'discussion' on How we think EU negotiations will go? Not that that has been even mentioned much never mind 'discussed'.
As to your general answer, some threads are 'discussions', some have a point, many don't. And I don't really know what BBS is so can't answer that bit.
