For some reason there does seem to be a thing lately with folk expecting all kids to walk to school, and if they get dropped off by their parents then they are spoilt brats and their parents are over protective.
This completely ignores the fact that some caring parents can't afford to live close to a reasonable school so have to sacrifice their own time and reduce their working hours just to be able to get their kids safely to the school, in the morning and back home again. Those parents are probably giving up more for their kids welfare than anyone else.

11.5 miles from where we live to our daughters school. So shall we call that a four hour walk for an eleven year old girl?

They cross over every morning - the parents who think the school 10 miles away is a better school, with those the other end who think the school 10 miles away is a better school. Who was it that decided that every kid should have a choice about going anywhere other than their nearest school.
Insulate, Insulate as the Daleks used to say.
That's not always a case, my daughter has a specialist placement due to reason I'm not going to go into, suffice to say, the closest one is 20.5 miles away, I'd LOVE one to be across the street.Insulate, Insulate as the Daleks used to say.

Maybe because the top 12 risk 2 yrs in pokey if they continue, or maybe they want to regroup and go for COP 26 event Action is FINALLY taken to jail Insulate Britain eco-zealots: More than a dozen of the 'usual suspects' behind motorway chaos will be named in court papers that would see them liable for two-year sentences if they continue protests
in the Daily Heil.
My wife is pregnant. One of our possible routes to hospital when she's in labour will involve the M25.
Wonder what to do if these guys decide to turn up. I guess call 999 and wait for the police? I'd imagine they'd not want to allow _anyone_ past.
Have they tried blocking emergency services vehicles yet?

I was going to say that they won’t like that when it happens, but they’ll only do a week behind the door in some st hole before being fired off to a cushy Cat-D.Action is FINALLY taken to jail Insulate Britain eco-zealots: More than a dozen of the 'usual suspects' behind motorway chaos will be named in court papers that would see them liable for two-year sentences if they continue protests

Im not a Lowyer but after reading the link posted for the Terrorism Act 2000 I wouldn't be surprised if the words "use or threat of action" and how that is defined are what's important when it relates to these protests. Sitting in the road holding a sign isn't actually threatening anything. It just being a and causing chaos.
Maybe one of the resident lawyers can comment?
Breaking it down regarding the terrorism act - it sets out the following ----> "the use or threat of action"...."designed to intimidate government" ..."or the public or a section of the public".."or to use action or threat for the advancement of a political/religious ideological cause"...."if it endangers a persons life" or "creates a serious risk to the health and safety of the public or a section of the public". It it then classed as terrorism and the person carrying it out is a terrorist.Maybe one of the resident lawyers can comment?
So when you read those extracts to form a sentence in which it can be applied, then it becomes quite clear that these eco-mongers who have become all caught up in their sphere of fear, are acting out what is described in the UK terrorism laws. They are terrorists.
Especially when they are causing accidents on the roads, putting motorists and their passenger's lives in danger as they jump out in front of traffic, stopping lives being saved by preventing ambulances getting to hospital etc.
There are probably also environmental laws that they are breaking, due to holding up traffic that is sitting there queued up with exhaust gasses going in to the environment with no economic productive balance.

Maybe they'll use this downtime to insulate their homes? No ideas for a name said:

A cursory Google of some of those names (the more distinctive ones) is depressingly predictable; they are also members of XR, the Occupy movement, "Stop HS2", anti-airports etc etc. Seems they bounce around from one environmental/anti-capitalist protest to another. I do wonder if any of these people have an actual job they have to go to.Tankrizzo said:

The ringleader has already gone on record to say he has no insulation and has single glazing and isn't remotely interested in insulation. For the people in charge this has nothing to do with insulating Britain
Quite. Many of those who sit in the road are useful idiots who genuinely think the issue is insulation. You'd have to be a fool to act that way when your spokesman - Liam Norton - is on TV saying "it's not about insulation".It's interesting to have a look at the backgrounds of Roger Hallam and Gail Bradbrook (XR co-founders) to see the sort of agendas at play.

That is a point I have made a few times on PH, in that many of these far-left anti-capitalist types are indeed a minority in society and are usually part of numerous other activist groups to make it appear they are larger in number than what they really are. The agenda is to have as many groups form as possible, to make it seem like government should listen to them as if they are to be representative of society, which of course they aren't.I wouldn't be surprised if another XR group set up calling themselves "double-glaze britian" or such like to further split hairs on a wider group issue they decided to create for the purpose to create a protest about.

They've redacted their addresses, that's not fair. The general public should be able to go and inconvenience them.Tankrizzo said:

'll be honest, I'm anti HS2 as well, but I wouldn't glue myself to the road and inconvenience normal people trying to get on with their daily business! Quite a lot of the insulate mob appear to be fairy well off retired middle class folk
I appreciate that there's only so much that you can discern from a list of names, but reading that list I was struck by how little diversity there seemed to be. Certainly the people doing the road sitting appeared to be from a very narrow demographic. Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
