So, can you combine withholding stuff (such as computer, playstation etc.) WITH not being allowed to go out. That way he gets bored rigid (only allow him school books etc)? If he's remotely clever this will be a nightmare for him, and he will learn.... Hopefully.

Tried that, even had him writing sections from school books out, but it's all water off a duck's back to him!

Maybe, but at least you'll know where he is and what he's doing. smile

THat was pretty much what I was thinking. Also, I would say

1st offence = 1 week curfew/stay in.
2nd offence = 1.5 weeks
3rd offence = 2 weeks

and so on. The more he misbehaves the longer his punishment............ So it is compounded each time. Let's face it, if he can't go out for two weeks at a time then he's not getting up to no good.. Also, is he really bright? Could be bored, at which point try and get him to use his brains for something else?

I don't know if it will work BUT if he is told how it will work then perhaps you may get some results.

Yea he is quite bright, has always had an inquisitive mind. WW3 went off here on Monday night, and at the moment he seems to be behaving. I think some of his problems are down the company that he keeps, but judging by the conversation I overhead him have with one that came to call for him today, he may be seeing that they are really not good for him. Time will tell I guess

IF he's bright then he will know that in future he could own a DB7 and holiday in the sun. IF his mates are thicker than mud then it's probable that they won't.. Might be worth trying to get his hobbies etc.. improved so he is busier doing less naughty things, and making sure he is clear that using his brains can lead to a good job (yes, I know his mates won't like him doing that, BUT are they really his friends if that is the way that they feel?) and a much better life.

Also, if he's tested mentally he won't get up to so much mischief.

IME and IMHO.
