And by the way, I find Stuarts comparison of the 'P' word with the 'N' word to describe a black person absolutely insulting and offensive.

Stuart, are you genuinely saying that choosing a lifestyle of living in a caravan, not working, paying tax, etc is any way comparable to being born with a skin colour other than white and the racial prejudices suffered in the last century? Nobody is segregating travellers, they choose to do that all by themselves.

What an utter insult to the black rights movement.

To think the left wing PC brigade has allowed them to become an 'ethnic group' rofl just to make them even more untouchable. I doubt they'll fill in any census forms and nothing will be done about it.

I simply cannot understand why a group of people can become a "race" in this way. It does not make sense to me.

I think people need to ask why so many of these 'Travellers' rolled up here when their own country got fed up with some of their 'Honest, Friendly, Salt of the Earth behaviour', and decided to do something about it.

I think their cries of 'discrimination' show that they have learned from the left wing sops that have ruined this country, and seriously threaten free speech, which has to concern us all.

That's pretty much already the case isn't it? A 'traveller' can come here and freely call you a gorger with no issue. Likewise, you can refer to the feral underclass as 'chavs'. So long as you don't say anything defamatory about 'travellers'.
The issue isn't with Travellers it's with criminals who choose to label themselves travellers despite living in houses, or static caravans, surely to be a traveller you should atleast make an attempt to actually travel.

That's exactly my issue with it, you can't. Race isn't something decided by a group of politicians one day. That in 1999 they weren't a race and then suddenly in 2000 they are is utterly absurd. Moreso when taken into fact their own country of origin doesn't recognise them as a 'race'. Comparing them to black people as one Mod has done is ridiculous. You can't suddenly decide you no longer want to be black, you can stop segregating yourself from the rest of society, move into a house and get a legitimate job.

s are s end of, and i fking hate s. we all understand the meaning of the word they are not a race of people, they are thieving scumbags and if a wants to enter this forum and defend the actions of
a group of travellers that cause no trouble to local residents where they decide to camp then fair enough they are travellers and not s, as i said at the start s ARE s as chavs ARE chavs as mods ARE mods, rockers ARE rockers, punks ARE punks, drunks ARE drunks, druggies ARE druggies, geeks ARE geeks, thieves ARE thieves, gays ARE gay, lesbians ARE cool and s ARE s

I was running short of food today and so I raided my cupboard. The only thing that was in there was a pie. It was one of those old types of pies in a sort of tin that have a key stuck to the side to open them, similar to old tins of corned beef.

The pie key basically is a bad idea and should have been abolished a long time ago. I did see a documentary about these pie keys and was shocked about how much resources they consume and how little respect for society they have. Ickler was right about one thing only, he was against pie keys.

I've had personal experience with the 'travlleing community' as they frequent users of A&E, both as a walk in GP service but also once they've finished punching each other in the face.

To say they are lively is an understatement. Rules are '2 family members at the bedside at a time' - not these guys, at least 5, despite numerous pleading requests from the nursing staff.

The children (often never having immunisations btw) run around with a complete lack of control from the parents and the family shout as each other at the top of their voices across A&E. They will stroll in and out, causing noise, commotion and mayhem.

However, in conversation with myself they are always absolutely polite, they listen without interrpting and they take the doctor's word as gospel. Very much a case of 'old skool' paternalistic medicine. Don't get me wrong, they attend A&E, very much with an agenda, but certainly, the doctor's word is final.

what i find interesting is how people are so scared of this new european law that stops up calling nefarious nomads the p word that they willingly choose to ride roughshod over another law.
the right to free speech.

did this new law override this intrinsic part of english law that people have fought and died for.

and i also find it rich that these travelling toerags are using the law against us when they normalw avoid the law at all costs.

From the English "turnpike", the place where travellers and thieves would camp near a settlement.
In my oppinion it's become a much wider encompassing term.

It encompasses any persons perceived as common, tasteless, thieving and anything in between.
And the massive question of since when did cultures become ethnic group's
The only true race is the human race.
people think there must be different “races” of people
because there appear to be major differences between people,
especially skin color/Cultures. “racial” differences are absolutely trivial.

Excellent.

"How many?"

"All of them."

"What with?"

"Scotch or Vodka."

Whether you agree or not the world is changing. By all means lobby your MP or take your case to the ECHR but unless you're prepared to indemnify PH against the inevitable legal battle (£200k might do it but I suspect they'd want more) then you're going to have to accept it.

You might want to establish the origins of Irish Travellers before you start that fight though.

Nope wrong we did coin it (no insult intended here mods just useful information I feel) From Wikki

"The term as a pejorative appears to be a very old English word, remaining near unchanged, probably in common use during William Shakespeare's lifetime. The text Gypsy Politics and Social Change notes Boorde's 1547 reference:

Egipcions be swarte and doth go disgsy'd in theyr apparel, contrary to other nacyons: they be lyght fyngered, and use pyking.[5]

Gypsies are swarthy and go disguised in their apparel, contrary to other nations: they are light-fingered and use piking.

The term is strongly associated with itinerant life and constant travel: is directly derived from pike which, circa 1520, meant to "go away from, to go on" and related to the words turnpike (toll-road) and pike-man (toll-collector) [
"

Turnpike connection makes sense smile

ETA its fairly obvious that back then, it had no more connotation than the term "traveller" has now (literal description), interesting how something can evolve as society changes to aquire negative connotations though.
