Roger Stone again acting strange.
Roger Stone posted a brief video to his Instagram page this evening, claiming that the New York Times, Washington Post, and New Yorker have been pursuing this story. In Stone’s words: “Someone is saying that they overheard a conversation in which I told Donald Trump in October of 2016 what exactly would be in the WikiLeaks disclosures and when they would be disclosed. This is categorically false.”

This is interesting about voter fraud and vote supression:

Then you've this result on North Carolina Gerrymandering
https://electionlawblog.org/?p=100857

The statehouse Republican in charge of redistricting, Rep. David Lewis, justified the map after its creation, saying: “I think electing Republicans is better than electing Democrats. So I drew this map to help foster what I think is better for the country.”

During a hearing on the new maps, Rep. Lewis “said the districts were drawn to give Republicans 10 seats and Democrats three seats because they couldn’t figure out a way to draw an 11-2 map,” according to the News and Observer. “It worked: Republicans won 10 seats in November 2016, and Democrats won three.”

Seems like he was best President the US never had... what an indictment of the state of the nation when it could have had JMcC but returned the tango'd clown...
He was, quite simply, he was. I’ve been a John McCain fan for over 20yrs since I first learnt about him. I waxed lyrical about him on usenet groups back in the day when he ran against Dubya and on here when he ran against Obama.
He has been the outstanding US political/Statesman/leader/talent for the last 25yrs in Washington and it was a crying shame for the States and the Pax Americana that he was never President.
He lost to the religious right by refusing to lick their boots with Dubya and he met Obama’mania after. How do you campaign against an overwhelming cultural tide and a reaction to Dubya and expect to win? As Unrep’s clip showed, he still refused to compromise his principles to his own ppl even when he needed every advantage he could get.

I’ve always said Obama was on a hiding to nothing getting elected when and how he did. There was no way he could ever have lived up to the expectations and predictions. If he had come after 8yrs of McCain it wouldn’t have been a revolution against Dubya or a cultural wave, but an evolved continuation of certain themes. America would be far stronger internally now and the Pax Americana would be nowhere near its current level of fractured state.

Still, the past is another country and all that...
RIP Senator. A proper chap.
As noted my MidEnginedCoupe yesterday, his choice of Palin as running mate at a time when he was behind was a huge mistake, as she quickly showed she was unsuitable for the position, having no experience or diplomatic skills. She, more than anyone, cost him any chance of being elected.
She also started the trend of attacking the press, very aggressive rallies. As said, set the trend for trump to exploit (or Bannon etc)

In his final public statement he made a big point of admitting that he made mistakes - a noble gesture. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the one mistake he was most regretful about.

Pretty much par for the course.
A 5-time draft-dodger that conspired with America’s enemies refuses had to be publicly shamed to fly the flag half-staff for a long serving senator and former POW veteran. Trump neither respects the flag or the military and that should be remembered the next time he rants that NFL players kneeling to protest are disrespecting the military.

Shall we talk NAFTA?
The donald said:
"They used to call it NAFTA, we're going to call it the United States, Mexico trade agreement. We'll get rid of the name NAFTA. It has a bad connotation because the United States was hurt very badly by NAFTA."

The press announcement was very light on details? Trump can't kill Nafta without Canadas agreement
https://qz.com/1371254/trumps-nafta-deal-with-mexi...

Negotiators want to strike a deal before the newly elected Mexican president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, takes office in December. Mr Obrador has been reluctant to continue Mr Pena Nieto's opening up of Mexico's energy sector, which could complicate negotiations.

In order to meet that deadline, the Trump administration must present the US Congress with a deal at least 90 days in advance - by the end of this month, which is Friday.

However, President-elect Obrador said on Monday that a two-way agreement with the US was just the first step in a new treaty.

"We're very interested in it remaining a three-country deal," he told journalists on Monday. "The free-trade agreement should remain as it was originally conceived."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45323634

Is this the same deals he did with real estate. Get a building, put name on it, maximise short term returns by making it worse ... disaster strikes, .... blame someone else. Hey presto.

Canada is the top export market for 36 of the US’s 50 states. The top export market for several of the remaining states is Mexico, particularly those on the US’s southwest border

“It’s a return to the abyss,” said one former official who’s in frequent contact with the White House. “This is back to being a one-man show, and everyone is on the outside looking in.” Wow. Still cannot believe just how much executive power apparently resides within the Presidency. Surely the rules on this are in desperate need of change.

To be fair there's a lot of shouting and just because those questions are clearly audible to us (microphone positioning etc) doesn't mean they are to him amongst the other shouting / noise.

That still doesn't mean he can hear them above other questions / noise.

If you're being asked multiple questions at once in a noisy room which is attempting to be cleared (answering questions discourages people clearing out), that's probably not the best environment to answer any of them.

It's not - but he's well used to it.

Of course, the problem would be solved if he had the guts to hold proper, structured and formal press conferences where the media could ask him clear questions in an organised manner. And he could answer those questions in an orderly manner.

But he's a coward.

There are plenty checks available, however they require the people with the power to have the will/desire to use them.

Most if not all of the noise seems to be Sanders et al telling the press corps to get out.

Possibly, but we're hearing one microphone where positioning / the polar pattern can make a significant difference to what we can hear vs what people in other locations can.

There are much better things to go at him for than that.

No doubt about that. Quite clearly though Trump has instructed his minions that he will be taking no questions on McCain. If he had chosen to answer Karl, there would have been a respectful silence. Well, a silence anyway.

The look on Melania's face at around 19 seconds was good, looked like she turned away and cringed laugh
