Your comments about The Mirror are absurd, to people with a brain it is a deplorable pile of rubbish that no serious person would even glance at. Cumulative readership numbers for every newspaper with a higher circulation than the Mirror is 5.4 million. Mirror circulation not even 500k
Your puffery about the Mirror being ‘The biggest left wing tabloid’ is silly. I could just as easily say The Mirror is the only left wing newspaper in the UK with a circulation higher than The Morning Star (which is about 10k before you ask)
Or here’s another one, you are the second best poster on PistonHeads with the letters Ja**Smith forming the start of their username. Meaningless
The way people try to twist and distort words to fit their agenda is frightening.
BoJo could have handled it better of course but it wasn’t him who made the boy Ill. Well I haven’t checked Corbyn’s Twitter feed, one of the top 100 million people to follow on Social Media. Maybe he did and the right wing press covered it up.
Slow down Jake. Are you honestly saying that it is OK for the prime minister of great Britain to avoid a question in this manner? By taking a person's phone from them and pocketing it? He may be similarly underinformed or 'ambushed' in the political arena, with world leaders. It is his job to be the smartest most informed man in any room. His advisors are there for a reason. It his job for his party's sake...and that of the country?, to know how to extricate himself from tricky situations with tact, manners. Not by ignoring the question and taking a phone. If they win they will have won in spite of his efforts not because of them and should relieve him of his duties at their earliest convenience. Hell, I willake this even simpler, if you were asking someone socially a question, or at work, and they tried to show something on their phone, I can fully understand you may not want to look at their phone...but would.you TAKE IT OFF THEM. I expected him to put his fingers in both ears and start saying rhubarb repeatedly.

It was a complete ambush. One up from a milkshake. Some random person thrusting a phone at him, a photo that could be anything, a story that could be completely made up, no way of checking or verifying anything, and if he says the wrong thing we end up with a Marxist government. What do you want him to do? Say ‘oh that’s all my fault sorry, we were trying to repay a huge compounding deficit that Labour ran up but we’ve failed you in this case, sorry’
I don’t know the story whatsoever but people exploiting their children for political capital is not on. The father could approach his own MP there was no need to accost Mr Boris Johnson. And no child of mine would be sleeping on a hospital floor on a pile of coats how utterly absurd.
You'd magic a empty bed out of thin air for your child ?I don’t know the story whatsoever but people exploiting their children for political capital is not on. Your opinion of the Mirror is your opinion. I don't think your position on its standing bears scrutiny. In any case, the question posed was whether the Prime Minister was, by the time of the interview, aware of the front page, leading story in the biggest left-wing tabloid paper in the country? For the answer to be 'no', in an age of 24 hour news, armies of press officers and endless briefing, you would have to suspend common sense.
In which case, it's fair to say he would have been familiar with the story by the time he sat down with the ITV reporter.
It's difficult, then, to claim in an agreed interview, faced with a story already on the front page of the national press and almost certainly subject of internal briefing, he was 'ambushed'.
And, even were you to believe the Prime Minister could have beene taken by surprise when the journalist asked him about a front page national story on the NHS, one of if not the biggest domestic battle ground of this election, you would still have to say his reaction was utterly lacking in empathy or humanity. His fabled quick wit seemed to leave him.
It's events like today's that convince me he is not fit to lead the country.
As someone who has voted Conservative in every election I've been eligible to vote in, it's a troubling situation.

Didn't realise that's how we treat journalists asking politically inconvenient questions of a Prime Minister whose only answer to a photo of a sick kid seems to be "get Brexit done".
It's staggering that anyone would watch that interview and even attempt to defend it.
Staggering but entirely unsurprising.
You seem obsessed by a storm in a teacup. Revisit it next week when you aren’t in election mode and you’ll see what a non story it turned out to be. ‘Staggering’ "troops"

The rest of your post I have more sympathy with but I’m less concerned with the nuances of personality in politics and think that has got us in trouble with people who can charm the birds out of the trees such as Blair and Cameron.
Maybe you want a nice warm friendly inclusive principled man as PM, I couldn’t give a st about that and want someone who will make tough decisions and get the job done.

Maybe a fair point on the word "staggering".Yes, next weeks chip paper, but the man will likely be Prime Minister next week and I do wonder what's going on when someone watches something like that and their first instinct is "I must defend him".

I’d have to respectfully disagree
It was a trap for Johnson
If the guy is a credible journalist there are plenty of ways of asking someone about something without accosting them
Allow someone to verify and look into something
It was a stunt designed to wrong foot Mr Boris Johnson and you know it full well
And a stunt that exploited a sick child. Disgusting and I’m surprised a man of your integrity supports such immoral tactics.
Jake, I think you need to stop with all the "marxist" and "but Corbyn" stuff and just take a look at the video. It was a trap for Johnson

Watch it a couple of times.
It's simply awful.
It can't be defended and I'm not sure why you'd even try to do so.
The same problems with bed shortages has been happening for decades. Brought about by Blair and the EU's mass immigration policy to our small island. It's not surprising when you let in 500,000 extra people a year that our NHS, schools, housing infrastructure are all at breaking point.
Corbyn will keep the flood gates open and make it much, much worse!

He’s not an antisemitic Marxist is my motivation. Anorher few reasons ar McDonnel, Butler, Rayner, Abbott, Burgess, Wrong Daily. If I even thought there was any talent around the racist old to reign him in or moderate him I’d give him an easier ride and BoJo the hard ride he deserves. However if BoJo is not our PM on Friday I believe this country will probably be ruined forever. BoJo is a turd for the record.

I’m not alone in my opinion on The Mirror, 67 million other people in the U.K. think it’s garbage and don’t buy it as well. Your defence of it simply marks you out as blinkered, biased, or someone with little understanding of media in the UK

Why do you assume I'm defending the Mirror? I wouldn't wipe my arse with it. However I do understand it's a large scale, national tabloid with a specific Labour bias and that it will be entirely on the radar of the PM and his team. The rest of your post I have more sympathy with but I’m less concerned with the nuances of personality in politics and think that has got us in trouble with people who can charm the birds out of the trees such as Blair and Cameron.

Maybe, just for once, this is an occasion where people put the tribalism, sensationalism and spurious claims down and just admit our PM dropped the ball today. Some will forgive that more readily than others, but it's undeniable that today was an embarrassment and overshadowed whatever the Tories were hoping to achieve.

It's not a good look in an election. People like to vote for friendly, empathetic people. Personally, I'd rather vote for a Chief Executive who will lead the country even if they are a self-serving narcissist.

The child's mother is now asking that her child's experience is not politicised.
Bit too late for that once youve photographed your child and sent the piccies to the Mirror.
The facts of the case will come out one way or another but the political damage is done at whatever levelBit too late for that once youve photographed your child and sent the piccies to the Mirror.
Traingate comes to mind for some reason though. Did the poor child sleep on coats for 4 days? That wouldn’t have been necessary surely.
All Blow Job had to say was, "That's shocking and totally unacceptable", but he couldn't even manage that.
The tory boys must be praying, with every breath, hoping beyond hope, clinging on to the merest thought that somehow, all the, gaff prone, buffoonery is an act and that he's not really the national embarrassment that he's been for the last few years.
They would have us believe, that one day, he's going to come good, become a statesman, a leader.
Not a chance, unfortunately for him and the country he's blown every chance he's ever had.
A leopard doesn't change its spots, Blow Job has zero integrity, with him in charge the UK will be the laughing stock of world, a mere one step up from the charlatan currently defrauding the US!

It was a tricky one for him. Could have been closed down by saying "absolute priority to investigate" and then whip out his phone and text Hancock. But he was being ambushed. No way of telling if it was like the Corbyn "no seats on the train" or a genuine moment.Maybe, just for once, this is an occasion where people out the tribalism, sensationalism and spurious claims down and just admit our PM dropped the ball today. In mild defence of the NHS, there are some nasty bugs around. One local primary school to you and I closed after 200 pupils were off sick (with many admitted at least for observations). Balancing NHS supply is really hard, even with lots of money.
Judging by the amount of news crews near Millenium Square tonight this will run for at least a news cycle.
