Climate protesters block roads

With respect, that's not the half of it. Reading their website and following the links they have plans for society that are rather more than just a bit of eco activism.
This is just the latest incarnation of wannabe anarchists cloaked in green.
But if you wish to stand with them, don't hold back.
I agree with their right to protest and their core message that CC solutions should be accelerated. I have pointed out that I do not support their more extreme views and that they need to be managed. This is just the latest incarnation of wannabe anarchists cloaked in green.

I accept, this being PH, some will misinterpret my posts and apply what they want to read into them - which is actually fine, I don't really care, I simply used some time I had whilst on a train in Germany today to express some thoughts but, ultimately, I am content knowing that change will happen regardless of the immaturity and ignorance that many here on PH love to wallow in.

"They're being hypocritical" implies they are all being hypocritical. But the example is only about Emma Thompson. And the other example you give would only be about you. That's why you need more evidence to say they are hypocritical. And I don't think it helps to add stuff like "I bet they all do ……… "
evidence of hypocrisy? Wearing man-made fibres
Carrying items made from man-made fibres
Using pollution causing transport
Using items which have hugely negative environmental impacts (mobile phones)
Foreign holidays (as seen on at least one plonker's social meeja feed)
or should it be rank stupidity.... or both?
Chris Packham is very hot on supporting the "Brave" Extinction Rebellion protesters.

The problem is, one of his many flights abroad for the BBC was to Japan a couple of years ago for the Springwatch Special showing the cherry blossom festival. Like a lot of people, my neighbours were inspired by the programme to go and experience it for themselves and had the Heathrow disruption gone as planned they would have had problems getting back home.
Tourism actually makes it financially worthwhile for the native populations of many countries to preserve their natural eco systems such as forests and coral reefs because people are willing to pay to go and see them. Without tourism, they would cut their trees down for farming and fish using explosives and dredge nets.
Just like young people go to Africa to dig wells and build schools so they can put it on their university applications, ecotourism is an industry in itself now.

I note Emma Thompson thinks the end of the world isn't so imminent as she's delayed her involvement in the protests until after her birthday party. She says she's flying less now, which is probably more to do with working less than a concern for the environment, but she's too old to fly economy any more.
A lot of these protesters have been responding to accusations of not practicing what they preach by saying they're doing the best they can within the bounds of having to live their lives and use existing technology. They all have a reason they think is justified for their air travel, their use of cars and plastics and so on. So they're no different to all the people they're causing massive inconvenience to. Most people are doing something to change their lifestyles to protect the environment, so they don't need to be held to ransom by these protests to acknowledge that they need to change.
I live in the North West of England and I don't want fracking in the area, but I wouldn't block roads and inconvenience people to protest because I would be annoying people who agree with the principle of what I believe in.
A lot of these protesters, like Chris Packham, feature quite highly on the Autistic spectrum. Bursting into tears when being spoken to by police officers and storming out of interviews are demonstrations of that. They're easily led into an excessive level of panic by the most doom mongering predictions of climate change and they're not really capable of understand properly how their behaviour isn't targeting the right people in the right way and isn't sending out the right message.

Happy to believe the world may have warmed up a tiny little smidge, but Extinction of the Human Race, pur-lease. When should we expect that then? These people are bellends who seem more interested in making life difficult for people in London.

I've asked the question 'Do your follows realise just how different their lives would be if Extinction rebellion got their way?' on a few youtube videos, not one of them has the imagination or has given it a thought! The hypocrisy is huge

Wait, what do you mean I can't buy tyres for my bike? And I need to buy a new wet suit and gortex boots for my weekend in Cornwall.

I’ve been enjoying the Santapod drag racing today, NOS, burnt rubber, GPM and 10,000 hp top fuel running sub 4.00 sec quarter
fks sake this is PH.
Good man spent the day on the beach enjoying the unusually sunny Easter weather and lunch by the harbour followed by a walk through the bluebell woods early evening. fks sake this is PH.
I cannot think of anything worse than travelling to London and sitting down on a bridge tbh but each to their own.
I'm going to take a wild guess that most of the protestors voted remain in the referendum.
Now considering that one of the remain sides biggest fears is the reduction in trade with the eu shouldn't they be applauding this reduction considering how most goods are transported across the eu and into the uk,let alone around the world?
Or again is it a case of 'do as I say,....'
