Climate scientists considering strike action...?
Where did that come from? Excellent idea, though....

I was just doing a practice psychometric test
After loads of green bullst questions about green growth i was then asked after reading a related block of text
"some countries are unaffected by climate change"
true or false
I closed the test
Gah! Everywhere you turn nowadays is green anti CO2 ste.
Im fed up, it will soon be time for a proper open discussion.

Oh joy, now the EU has decided to burn £250M on a futile 'carbon capture' effort.

I am absolutely fuming at the massive amount of money being wasted here why not use it to build some fookin flood defences in the UK etc

So we're told glibly that "Sea level along the English Channel has already risen during the 20th century due to ocean warming and melting of glaciers."
There's a key step missing in that spin.
Even if we accept the casual use of 'due to' at face value, where is the claimed melting of glaciers and claimed ocean warming unambiguously attributed to humans? Answer - nowhere.
Also you have to wonder how that 'due to' explanation took into account isostatic/crustal rebound which is causing the sea level in the north of the UK to fall and in the south to rise. As we know. The south is where the English Channel is situated, curiously enough.

Also, don't forget about the mid-Atlantic ridge, a Divergent Plate Boundary running down the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. There's a key step missing in that spin.

When the ice melted at the end of the ice age this pressure was released and the north-west of the UK began to rise or rebound after the pressure from the ice was removed, this also caused the south-east of the UK to sink. therefore the sea level is falling in the north-west and rising in the south-east, and this process is still occurring today, causing small amounts of sea level change.
A couple of mm/year is small, it's one of those near-zero-with-errors situations. Where are the detailed numbers for thermosteric, melt and crustal rebound contributions? With error bars of course. Not in Pachauri's latest or next climate porn novel for sure.We know the Atlantic Ocean is growing wider through a blend of theory and direct measurement, each supporting the other.
Continental drift and plate tectonics provide the theory. We measure the widening ocean in various ways including measuring distances between matched magnetic landmarks on either side of a widening gap on the ocean floor.
The boundary between the plates forming the Atlantic Ocean is down the middle along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which also passes through Iceland. The ridge is where we must look to find a widening gap which accounts for the widening ocean. That is where we measure the rate of separation.
Where the plates separate, white-hot soft mantle oozes up from great depths within the Earth to fill the gap. The molten rock cools slowly into new slivers of sea floor. This has happened over and over again through the eons, as shown by lighter and darker strips on either side of the spreading ridge. That's how the Atlantic Ocean widened-by a spreading sea floor.
We measure the gap rate in various ways including direct measurements of plate movement using space technology. One way capitalizes on the fact that the Earth's magnetic poles reverse polarity every million years or so. The North pole becomes the South pole and vice versa.
Iron-rich rock has a peculiar property: heat it above 580 degrees Centigrade, called the Curie point, and it loses its magnetism. When it cools below 580 degrees the rock gets re-magnetized in the direction of the existing Earth's magnetic field. So it's a magnet whose poles align with the poles of the Earth at the time of the cooling. The neat thing about this is: the magnetic field of the rock, once cooled, stays frozen in this orientation. It becomes a record of the Earth's field at the time of its cooling.
To measure the rate of separation, we identify two slivers of sea floor on opposite sides of the ridge that have the same magnetic polarities frozen at the same time, for example, at 80 million years ago. We measure the distance between them, say, 8000 kilometers. Then the rate of spreading across the ridge is 8000 km / 80 my or 10 cm/yr.
Using this method and others, we estimate the Atlantic Ocean widens at a rate of about 0.4 inch to a maximum of 4 inches or 1 to 10 centimeters per year. The worldwide average is 1 inch a year-the same rate your fingernails grow.
How, with all this going on, you can blame any change in sea levels to man emitting such a tiny fraction of tax gas when the other forces involved are so colossal as to be beyond our comprehension, and then to just ignore them....

Yes, it's the sort of armwaving junkscience that wouldn't be acceptable in a secondary school project yet 'scientists' in national and supranational organisations spout such carp on a daily basis - and the media, ignorant and supine in equal measure as always, lap it up.Beati Dogu said:

Back To Black
U.S. coal exports have been booming in recent years due to rising demand around the world. In fact, some European countries are already using U.S. coal to displace costly Russian gas. “Some European countries are using U.S. coal to help displace Russian natural gas and neutralize Russia’s energy influence,” Republican Kentucky Rep. Ed Whitfield said. “Coal exports are already having an impact on geopolitics and are helping to create American jobs and reduce our trade deficit. We can build on this success by increasing natural gas exports as well.”
Michael Bastasch, The Daily Caller News, 17 April 2014
The European Union sees itself leading the world in curbing carbon-dioxide emissions and doing more than any other region to mitigate climate change. But it is also increasing the share of electricity being generated by the most carbon-intensive energy source of all: coal. Coal-fired electrical-generation plants are being started up in Europe and comparatively clean gas-fired generating capacity is being shut down. According to one forecast cited at a Brussels conference on Thursday by Fabio Marchetti, head of government affairs in Brussels for the Italian energy company ENI, 10 gigawatts of gas-power plants will be dismantled in Germany by 2015 only to be replaced with 7 gigawatts of coal-fired plants. That is in Germany, the Continent’s leader in heavily subsidized renewable energy.

It's probably more a case of the media in general being part of the scam by enthusiastically doing whatever the LabLibDemCon and EU tells them to do to add to the continuous barrage of bullst anti CO2 propaganda. To the point where 'news channels' like BBC and Channel 4 news are just laughable propaganda machines the equal of anything in North Korea.

The law of thermos dynamics strikes again. Hertz Means Bzzzz and Heats Means Ices. Damned dangerous, this dangerous global warming.
What is odd is that the BBC aren't mentioning it.......... Nor indeed most MSM.....But not to worry, as we know Global Warming in fact meant that loads of places were colder for years.....
