Clarkson: Racist

Nope.
You have the right to ask that, (not sure why you ever felt you didn't), but you aren't going to get one.
Just to be clear now, can you confirm you understand she isn't suing anyone for damages?
Yes, I think I might feel somewhat secure in acknowledging that her first preference was to demand a public eating of humble pie. Self important attention seeking nonentity that she is, but that her cash raking stirrers on have threatened legal action (that will cost the BBC - i.e. 'us' - an estimated £1m rather than her/their accounts being suddenly inflated to the same amount) should their deep, deep personal and inter-national wounds not be sufficiently salved by Clarkson's public stool ducking. You have the right to ask that, (not sure why you ever felt you didn't), but you aren't going to get one.

Turds both. I really hope this backfires terribly on them both.

I do find it a little naive that people are trying to claim "It was a bridge and it was sloping".
I think it's pretty clear what he meant tbh, I'm not that old and even I'm familiar with the word "slope" in that context, though what I don't know is how badly it's perceived.
That would depend on the angle of the slope, surely?I think it's pretty clear what he meant tbh, I'm not that old and even I'm familiar with the word "slope" in that context, though what I don't know is how badly it's perceived.

Has there been a recent series of Top Gear where there hasn't been some sort of controversy to gain a few more column inches? (usually involving Clarkson)
One of the 'Lads' presenting make some near the knuckle remark that is clearly scripted to beforehand, the professionally offended rise to the bait and are duly offended.
Red tops get a nice few headlines and a few column inches, BBC hold some sort of inquiry and issue a bland statement that it wasn't intended and that lessons have been learnt. Clarkson gets to write about it in his column the following week, and so on..... happens every year.
The only surprise is that people are surprised!

Clarkson's great at this sort of thing, playing an oaf while winding up the professionally insulted and holier than thou.
Shame a few more people don't get the joke but hey. I avoid the top gear series xx threads as they remind me too much of a news article about soap stars being abused in the street by the terminally dimwitted for things their character acted out, it makes me feel dirty just sharing oxygen with these idiots.

+1
It was a clearly deliberate smart arse comment, maybe they thought it clever, maybe some will think it was, but it all seemed a bit desperate and I'll thought out bearing in mind the PC society we live in. And as a chartered corporation, the BBC should know better. If no producer or editor noticed this deliberate staged comment, it shows what an ill educated bunch of twerps we have at the BBC nowadays. So assuming they did notice it, and allowed it through, they pretty much deserve all they get.
Stupid waste of money the whole thing.

Still, nice of her to jump in and defend the Thai's, especially given that they are often openly racist towards people of her nationality, as well as being a nation that is very direct in how they talk about and describe people.
I doubt she gives a fk about the Thai's, just after some publicity.Amirhussain said:

Didn't you get the memo? Only white people can be racist Edited by flyingvisit on Saturday 29th March 17:30
Serious whoosh. She has completely missed the more obvious double meaning. If something is on a slope, it is not-straight and in the film the bridge was famously build by a gay collaborator.
Gin is Aussie slang for the genitals of aboriginal women, so all the G&T jokes were actually racist double entendres as well.

WAIT A SEC.
She's not even oriental-looking. WTF. She might as well be a white middle class woman and sue Clarkson.
You know what is upsetting? It's the end of the season. I didn't realise that until I read the article.
When did it become a season..... I thought it was a series? She's not even oriental-looking. WTF. She might as well be a white middle class woman and sue Clarkson.

You don't have to be the victim to not like something.
So because she doesn't like something, she's entitled to a million in compo? The world has gone crazy.Hoofy said:

What on earth is wrong with you pair? She's not even oriental-looking. WTF. She might as well be a white middle class woman and sue Clarkson.
Again, as per my previous quote, what happened in WW2? Britain wasn't invaded, Britain stood up on behalf of others in needs. What happens if you see a burglary or a mugging, but it's not you being robbed, "I'm alright Jack, pull the ladder up"?
For those with reading comprehension skills, I'll add some bold to give you a helping hand.
The BBC has received a formal complaint over an allegedly racist remark made by Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson during one of the show's Burma specials.
A law firm acting on behalf of actor Somi Guha, who appeared in 2006 sci-fi film Children of Men, has written to the BBC claiming Clarkson's use of the word "slope" – which can be used as a derogatory term for people of Asian descent – contravened the Equality Act 2010.
Guha, who has also featured in The Bill, is seeking an apology and disciplinary action against Clarkson.
She's not asking for money or damages, she's standing up for others which appears to be an entirely alien concept to you.
I can see why the people in the comic look so pissed off. That guy is a dick - and he's always talking past them! So rude.
Perhaps, instead of trying to find out from a third party exactly which term or terms he can use to refer to somebody without it seeming rude or causing excessive offence, he could try simply asking them their name?
