The last line form the article
"Putin has been able to keep the conflict out of the headlines, and away from the attention of voters in Europe and the United States, who might otherwise pressure their governments to do something to stop it."
If that deluded statement doesn't mark the article out as propaganda then I don't know what does.

Id have to agree with that. Its someone trying to add pressure to get USA to provide more kit for the Ukrainians:"Putin has been able to keep the conflict out of the headlines, and away from the attention of voters in Europe and the United States, who might otherwise pressure their governments to do something to stop it."

"So, the Russian-backed fighters are firing hundreds of shells and rockets toward Ukraine each day, many of which are launched from civilian areas, and Ukraine is unable to respond adequately."

There are a few other gems in there as well. But hey, they know their target audience. "Putin has been able to keep the conflict out of the headlines, and away from the attention of voters in Europe and the United States, who might otherwise pressure their governments to do something to stop it."

Let's face it, this is a US/EU land grab and nothing more.
Remind me who has grabbed land in this case. Oh, no need, I just remembered. It was Russia.Cheese Mechanic said:

The oft repeated criticism of an admittedly flawed process seems designed to focus attention away from precedent (Kosovo), principle (self determination of peoples) and fact (the majority of people in Crimea are Russian, consider themselves Russian, and wish to be Russian).
The most amusing part of the "annexation" sound byte is that it comes straight from the mouth of empire itself. Perhaps the US should consider returning the Philippines or Hawaii to its rightful owners? Hell, much of the United States wouldn't be part of the United States were it not for good 'ol annexation. And of course one might even ponder whether there is really any difference today in "annexation" or "subversion of democracy" to the tune of 5 billion dollars and some neo-nazis.
Yes, the irony is thick 'round these parts.

No, we just accept that two wrongs do not make a right. If you want to start a discussion about Hawaii, you are free to do so in another thread. This is a thread about Putins illegal actions in the Ukraine. Trying to obfuscate will not change that.scherzkeks said:

Article 1
The Purposes of the United Nations are:
. . . . To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples . . .
What has that got to do with Russia invading Ukraine? Particularly with tank variants only Russia uses? The Purposes of the United Nations are:
. . . . To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples . . .
Just one report here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-30907443
Another here, "rebels" admitting Regular Russian forces involved (if we were ever stupid enough to think otherwise)
