Fence - replace with a wall, cost and finish responsibility
Discussion
I've ordered the posts and gravel boards, just over £500 delivered.
The supplier recommended using a bag of postcrete for each post to hold them in place, then topping off with concrete. £50 for postcrete, another £50 for cement and ballast.
I asked him if he could recommend a panel supplier. He said to make them myself, hit and miss. I'm thinking of using 4x1 with a 1" gap for privacy. Does that sound about right?
I worked out that I need about 500 metres of 4x1 for the palings, and 50 metres of 3x2 for the arris rails and gate framing. Best quote for that lot so far is £580.
Found a labourer who has done concrete post fencing before who will help. Says it'll be easier for him to dig the holes by hand than to use an auger. Couple of hundred for him and my mate.
A couple of wooden posts for the gate, nails/screws and gate hardware, another £60. Might hire a Paslode - about £100 for a few days
Total cost about £1500
