House renovation and garage build
Discussion
The afternoon was more positive, we ordered our Hypnos bed - after sleeping old crap beds for the last few years I'm really looking forward to having a good bed.
The bed should be delivered at the end of next month - so that is a deadline for getting the room painted and carpeted - colours still yet to be chosed.

Managed to get the walls and ceiling painted last week - no pictures though, as I'm in Japan at the moment and can't access Flickr from my work network. The plan is that Jen will paint the woodwork while I'm away.
One issue I can see us having is that the old hearth is tiled and is slightly higher than the surrounding floor, with some loose tiles. We had a similar issue in the dining room and can feel the unevenness through the carpet. How difficult would it be to replace the tiles to level off the floor? More hassle than it is worth?

I've managed to get access to Flickr now, this is how the bedroom was looking on Sunday evening:

You could hack the tiles off and then self level over the area or similar if you aren't attached to them.
That seems like a good idea, the other thing I'd thought of was maybe some ply?The tiles were much easier to remove than I expected, most of them just lifted out.

We're now at the stage where we have a lot of small jobs to do, before the carpet is fitted on Tuesday, refit the radiator, fill the hole left by the tiles, re-attach the sockets etc.

And the verdict from the self levelling compoud is...
Some of it escaped. Although it is certainly better than the tiles were, there are still ridges either side, but at least it is one solid section, rather than individual wobbly tiles.
Can anyone suggest a suitable filler to smooth off the ridges? I'm not sure that adding more self levelling compund will work.

Not perfect, but better than it was - carpet is being fitted now, so no time to improve it.

The carpet is fitted! After feeling it in the shop, we went for the iSense Splendour, which is really soft, we've found ourselves just walking around in there are the carpet is so soft.
Yesterday we spent went to Ikea to spec get the wardrobes, which are being delivered this afternoon, Jen had decided on high gloss turquoise doors, with oak carcass, I'm not at all convinced, but she's the one with the eye for colours, they also had one like that in the showroom and it didn't put her off!
Yes, should have blocked it up first, but the holes looked tiny.
We now have a large pile of boxes, which will hopefully be turned into wardrobes over the next few days, although as with any IKEA trip, we'll need to go back & pick up the few bits that weren't in stock.

We're making progress with the wardrobes, I wasn't sure about the best way to attach them to the wall, taking into account the width of the skirting board. So following some PH advice, I made spacers and screwed through them.

The other bit I was concerned about was drilling through the high gloss doors to fit the handles, but after more PH help, I decided to treat myself to some decent drill bits and drilled from the front with clamped an old bit of wood behind, which worked well.
At the moment we have got one wardrobe 90% done, with just the door alignment to adjust to finish it off, but we need another Ikea trip to pick up some bits for the other wardrobes. After 4 years of living together and sharing one small wardrobe, getting these finished and filled with clothes is going to be a big moment!
Our new bed is being delivered tomorrow and we have the curtains and curtain rails to fit, then all we need to do is buy dressing table/bedside tables and a chest of drawers and the room will be finished! As we are getting married next month, we will probably wait until after the wedding to move into the new room.
Elsewhere at 119, I'm really pleased with how the lawn has been looking the last week or so, after some lawn feed and all the sun/rain we have been having:

Just need to align the doors and wait for the last drawer to come back into stock at Ikea.
The bed was delivered this morning too.

There hasn't been much progress recently as I was up in Scotland for my brother's wedding and there's been a lot of planning for our wedding in a few weeks.
We are almost there with having the bedroom ready for after the wedding. After spending most of the bank holiday looking at furniture and not finding anything we liked for the bedroom we went back to Ikea and picked up some bedside tables and a dreessing table in fake oak to match the wardrobes. Yesterday we also got the door hung and curtain rail fitted in the bay window. All that is left to do is a mirror, curtains, bedding, a light fitting and to move our clothes in.

I'm aware a full update is now overdue, not that there has been that much progress, but 18 months after the alarm was fitted it is finally linked to the garage door opener. It wasn't a particularly difficult fix, it has just dragged on due to a busy electrician then breaking his leg.
