Any idea people?

I took the clip off the bottom of the light hoping it would drop down but it didn't. There seems to be some glass below the bulb which won't come out, and the bulb wont come out the top of the fitting as you can see as it's all sealed!

Twist the surround to detatch it from the lugs. Lamp will be held in a clip within the cover.

finally did it

the 'bezel' didn't twist at all, turns out the bulb had to be pushed down which then forced the glass out.

Rediculous

Doesn't sound right.

Some of the cheaper cast alum fittings warp and do funky things, some clamp the lamp tight, others soften and bend against the spring clamp tension then drop out the cieling when the springs pings out. There's a lot of cheap crappy downlights about, and cheap crap sold more expensively like aur*ra.

The bezels easy enough to replace with no electrical connection needed, just look at the cut-out size and match and use IP rated if it's a bathroom.

Doesn't sound right to me either.

Hairy Ben, what's your issue with Aurora? I seem to recall you slating them in another thread (I might be wrong though), never had any problems with them myself, unlike the crap that people want installing from one of the big sheds.

nonexistant warrentee, complete avoidance of responsibilities and obligations.

Several stories to tell(!), worst account probably being 50 matt silver downlights that all turned various shades of bronzey green, made me send back samples, told me lie after lie, that I'd installed them wrong, lies and lies, they'd never ever seen one do that so it MUST be down to me, went in barnet electrical to inform them I was gonna have to take legal action as they'd sold me the damn things and didn't want anything to do with it themselves, when quite by coincidence the aroura roadshow display coach pulls into the car park behind me and auroras own area sales manager walks in!

30 seconds of enhanced questioning saw him admitting they had a whole bad batch and he had the lot replaced.

By comparison had some white IBL brand fittings do simular and they couldn't have been better, offered to do the replacement themselves.

IBL went bust, everyone but everyone sells aurora crap. Go figure.
