Rangemaster Cookers
Discussion
Good morning, I am in the process of buying a new build property. The kitchen is fully specced with all appliances, unfortunately the ovens they offer are not what I would like. The builders will fit kitchen leaving me the right sized space, I have been looking at Rangemaster cookers 1200 wide. Anyone have any opinion/experience of them please?

Just a quick heads up. If you want it all to look 'right', get the cooker ASAP. Building the kitchen around the cooker is far better for fit and finish than the other way around.Rabgemaster 5 - 7 years ago were pants. Far better product in the last few years and lots of my customers seem happy enough with them.

I've fitted a few and I don't rate them. Lot's of my customers have had problems with them. Including stainless steel going rusty. I would say at least half have had to have a engineer come out for repair's. To be fair there customer service seems good, but they did have a habit of sending out the wrong parts. They seem to have gone a bit out of fashion, as I haven't put many in in the last year, so they may have got better.
Have a look at:

Very very good and possibly a tad cheaper.
EDIT: Whoops, actually a good deal more expensive

Have a Rangemaster 90 with ceramic hob - only comment is that it could do with an extra small "ring" for small pans. Otherwise, great.
Maybe one drawback was having to install a 45 amp supply (our previous cooker only needed 30 amp) - which required new cable and CB in the consumer unit. The 45 amp cable is a swine to bend!

We've got a Rangemaster 90 too (electric ovens and gas hobs), we've only had it for a couple of years but no problems and we're very happy with it.
We've also got one of their dishwashers, which developed a fault with the control panel last year; I suspected it was out of warranty but they said no problem and promptly sent a chap out to fix it for us so good customer service too.

Our kitchen is home to one of these beauties:

Professional Series 110, both the hobs and the oven chambers are LPG fired. No idea on cost, as it was installed by the house builders.
Suffice to say, however, that if you can afford one, go for it. You wont regret it, its a truly fantastic bit of kit. Very easy to use, extremely well made and has enough simultaneous cooking capacity to feed an army!
As has been mentioned - they are chuffing big and chuffing heavy - definitely something you design your kitchen to fit around rather than trying to slot into an existing setup, especially as it is a helluva lot deeper than a normal oven so needs a very deep worktop and units either side

Just a minor point, but important if the builder is leaving a 1200 space for you..... They don't make a 1200 range! Smeg and fisher & paykel do, amongst a few others. Range master only offer 1100 or 900.
Doh! Just emailed them to say 1100mm gap. No panic as not even started yet.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
