Trying to trim my lawn with my Flymo trimmer, I got about 2 seconds of action then the cord seems to snap. I open it up, pull some more cord out and it happened again. Could it have been some trivial error like putting he spool in upside down?

This is the kind of spool I'm talking about.

I had exactly the same problem with a Flymo strimmer that uses the same drum. I got some generic 1.6mm line from the garden centre - problem solved.

When I bought the strimmer last year, it worked fine. This year, line broke every few seconds. I have to assume that the line degrades over time. Maybe it's biodegradable?
