Bathroom skirting wood Vs tile
Discussion
We are having the bathroom floor tiled with a 450x450 tile and the walls were previously tiled but we have decided to not tile them again. We can't decide how to finish the wall should we go with the bog standard torus skirting that's everywhere in the rest of the house or go with say a 150mm slice of tile as a tile skirting board as recommended by the bathroom fitter
I know it's very common on the continent just don't see it much here
Tile is this one

Traditional style bathroom - normal skirtings Or tiles specifically made to look like skirting boards. Modern contemporary bathroom - tiled up stands.
Personally I don’t like tiled skirtings, they remind me of sub-standard hotels or hotels in America where they use carpet for the skirtings! (Typing this whilst sat having a poo looking at tiled skirtings in a run-down Hilton).

Skirting is fine so long as it’s not mdf based. The joint between skirting and tiling use the same silicon as around the bath/shower/sink etc. Tiled skirting to me looks a bit hospital like where they swish mops around all the time
Used kitchen kick boards, particularly if want a high gloss white look with 3+metres lengths no joints, just don't reduce the height which would loose edge sealingGassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
