So will be having the kitchen done in the next month or 2 and will be on the look out for new appliances, namely built in oven, hob and extractor

As technology advances, what are the new tech to consider? Pyrolytic looks to be an interesting feature so looking to include this, not too fussed about wifi or anything too extreme, any good manufacturers specifically to consider and any good deals to be had?

I was looking at AEG but they are now owned by Electrolux and reviews paint a picture different from their German background so will avoid them, and any others with shocking reliabilty and customer service ideally

I chose Siemens because I liked the design and the quality feel of the controls. Included an induction hob which was pretty new then. That was 17 years ago and they all still work fine!

Miele have an outlet which often has decent discounts if you are looking for higher end

I would go to showrooms and play with them. My mother has Siemens appliances (now circa 15 years old and the hob and warming drawer have broken... so seem to last well) but I cant stand them as they non-stop beep and are relentless. Find ones you like the controls on...

We have recently installed Siemens ovens and induction hob along with a Liebherr fridge. No complaints and not silly money

Very happy with our Neff N90 slide & hide ovens, hob, warming drawer. *Very* occasionally use the wifi and it does keep the clocks in sync hehe

Pyrolytic is definitely worth having.

We have Neff mostly. Microwave had to be replaced due to internal rusting (baked spuds did it), and we have had a new dishwasher in 12 years. 1 of the ovens required a new element which was due to lack of use I was to (dry joint). Induction Hob, Oven 1 and Fridge Freezer have all been great (touch wood). I want to replace the F/F with a French Door version but loathe to just chuck it.

We have AEG Washing and separate Dryer. Replaced 5 years ago another brand, can't even think but likely to be hotpoint or similar. No complaints so far on them.

We are 10 years into a kitchen with integrated Bosch double oven, induction hob, dishwasher, extract hood and fridge freezer (not to mention toaster and kettle).

We have a busy family household and our appliances get hammered and in those 10 years, we've had a new heating element on the oven and heater element on the dishwasher (which I did myself) - otherwise they are all exactly as installed in April 2015. Even the LED bulbs in the hood and fridge are the original!

We have a Bosch Series 6 washing machine in the utility room which has been providing great service for 6 years with little/no issues.

Overall - Thumbs up from me.

(I believe Neff, Siemens and Bosch use many of the same internal parts, but simply the aesthetics and some functions differ...Bosch being the more basic of the trio).

Bosch/Neff/Siemens are the only appliances I'll touch these days. They're also the only appliances the man who runs the appliance repair shop in my local town (took a hoover there) will use in his own home. That's telling.

You didn’t mention a fridge but our Fisher & Paykel is excellent.

I wonder if part of this decision is that their aftersales service (particularly supply of replacement parts) is very good. It is all viewable via clear online catalogues and genuine parts (even for old discontinued appliances) are readily available whether it be from Bosch direct or other spares suppliers/ebay.

That's true; after accidentally dropping the grill pan onto the oven door and smashing the glass, it was easy to get a new one.

Bosch oven, Hotpoint induction hob, Miele fridge, Bosch washing machine here. All perfect and long-lasting (famous last words...).

We put a new kitchen in our old house, luckily one of our friends was a kitchen fitter and his advice was to spend money on the stuff you could see and anything that is built in i.e. firdge, dishwasher etc don't go over the top.

We ended up with Neff ovens and hob, but CDA fridge/freezer and dishwasher never had an issue with any of these appliances.

I'd be looking at Neff for ovens etc

Personally I avoid Miele, my experience with their household appliances hasn't been great and think they're vastly overpriced for what they offer - there's plenty of people who will disagree with me though smile

We've just put in new kitchen with all new Siemens stuff - flexi induction hob, 2 x ovens, 1 x built in microwave/grill/oven thing, 1 x steam oven, 2 x warming drawers, fridge and freezer, extractor fan. It's early days (4 months in) but so far v impressed with the quality of the stuff and how well it works compared to our old Rangemaster range that was gas hob etc.

Just to add, if getting an induction hob I'd go for one with proper knobs. It's only a temporary set up for us at the moment but the touch control on the one we have is infuriating. Doesn't work when wet, you can accidently turn it off, change temp if you wipe it whilst it's on, pressing half a dozen times to simply turn it down a bit is stupid Give me a good old fashioned knob any day (ooh errr mrs!)

Good point Jim, the touch panel on our Bosch can be a bit of a sod to use....however, I would be very wary of going for anything with physical buttons in this 'zone' due to the very high risk of hitting them with a hot pot/pan when sliding across or indeed something boiling over and liquid getting into the button. Wipe clean glass obviously removes all that risk.

Samsung, have been mighty impressed with their oven and hob, purchased recently. The oven is I think exclusive to them, where a single oven size space is split so you can have top oven & bottom oven at different temps/ cooking times. great when there is only 2 at home.

They do a number of different ranges the mid upper stuff is IMHO as good as any.

Never had any issue with touch panel controls on induction hobs personally.

Of our appliances I'd say the Neff ovens slide and hide doors, and the Samsung washing machine self dosing washing liquid, are the standout features.

I've always been a fan of Bosch so went with them for all appliances in our refit 7yrs ago, but we've had several issues with the oven and the dishwasher has just died.

Personally no longer a fan, I would go Miele if buying again.
