I've got a brand new unit - leased.

Electricity isn't connected yet.

I've googled this but can't see a solution.

The roller shutter has chains to use when there's no power.

But I can't get it to work.

Is there some kind of clutch system or physical locking system in the motor housing that I need to engage and if so what do I need to be looking for?

Thanks, hope someone can get me sorted.

Yes, but they are all different depending on manufacturer.
Do you know the manufacturer ?

I couldn’t see anything on their website

Manuals for them seem st at a quick glance.
Looks like there is a silver actuator next to the chain to engage the clutch.
Most of the time you would pull them to engage.

Thanks,

I'll get a ladder and try and figure it out.

Hope you're still here, OldGermanHeaps

It's looking like I just flick down this bracket and the chains will locate on the cogs, do you think?

Yes I would say so about the bracket. You won’t break it by trying.

From experience of manually overriding electric shutters, be prepared for a lot of work for little gain....... when we last had a power cut and needed to shut ours we had to take it in turns to close the 10m tall shutters.

If its not the sprung gold flap, it will be the silver L shaped actuator next to it.

Thanks both,

I think that’ll be it

Something like the bracket is holding the chain
And that lever must be there to activate the chain roller mechanism

😂 I’m prepared for the long haul, sorry about the pun
