Any experts - cylinder mowers? Atco 14s issues
Discussion
Hi all,
Hoping there might be some lurking experts on old cylinder mowers in here. I've got a carburetor type Atco Balmoral 14s.
Towards the end of last summer it stopped driving either the blades or the roller. The engine starts OK. I put it away for winter and now trying to fix it before it is needed later in the spring.
I've taken off the various covers. Belts and cogs all seem OK and tighten when cables are pulled. However, the main drive shaft from the engine to all of the cogs is decoupled. I've never had cause to open this cover before, so don't know what it looked like before, but intuitively it looks like this is probably the issue. Seems strange for it to have moved apart on its own though and so at a bit of a loss. There are a couple of screws on the coupling head part which allow the head to be moved towards it's mate, but not sure if I should be doing that and wonder if it needs adjustment from the engine end?
If anyone is familiar with these mowers then any advice would be well received.

Looks like the coupling has slid back on the engine shaft (left) as looks like the shaft on the right had a bit that sat just inside the coupling (shiny bit on end)
Is the allen screw lose?
If not you might be able to loosen it and slid the coupling back and re tighten the allen screw to hold back in place

Not familiar with these but, obviously the drive has come apart where the rubber 'cush drive' sits. One side or other should be adjustable so that the drive dogs engage, looks like the silver part on the left is simply held in place on the shaft by the grubscrews so that's where I'd start.
