Buying First Home - Durham/Hartlepool

I'm looking to buy my first home somewhere around the Durham/Hartlepool area due to moving up there for work. What I'm seeing when I look at Rightmove are lots of houses that are struggling to sell and have been advertised for over a year.

I'm obviously reluctant to buy in an area that is going to make it difficult to sell (due to reputation). Does anyone know of any areas around Durham that are viewed as being 'nice' and therefore won't present too many problems when the time comes to sell?

I'm only looking for a 2 bed semi or end terrace, approx £100k.
