I have a patio door in the living room, that was obviously once wooden framed and supported the load of the bricks above the opening, but was replaced by the previous owners with cheap upvc. Naturally this is sagging a little under the weight...

Does anyone have experience of costs of putting a lintel in above a patio door? Though I do a lot of DIY round the place, I don't really fancy this one! If possible I'd try and keep the exisiting patio doors and put them back in.

(Patio door is about 6" wide, and lintel would be on the single (outer) leaf only, I think there is already a lintel on the inner leaf of the wall as there's no deflection. It's double skinned, but there's little to no airgap. Above the opening it's std 1930's semi, two storey stuff, so no massive loads on it. Not too bothered about making good the inside finishes as I'm busy renovating that bit anyway!)
