I’ve been meaning to post this picture of ours for a while…

Confuses most people I show it to.

Yes indeed, for some time I thought there were three cats... Then I realised the middle one was the left one with its head on the other way... spin

How’s Mavis doing without her bestie George? Hope she’s ok.

Here she is soaking up the sun as I returned from the gym this morning! biggrin

She's doing the best she can I think. She's eating a bit more now, compared to the aftermath. I'm certain she's struggling with separation anxiety currently, as she doesn't like being on her own for too long, especially at night. She's always had a 'Mavis Morning Chorus' as I call it when she wants feeding. But now George is gone it's louder and longer now she's looking for someone to snuggle up with at first before getting breakfast. The other night as I'd pulled up outside and was fiddling around with the seatbelt in the backseat of my car (long story, not a fun one either rolleyes) she appeared, meowed loudly at me and tried to get in. Whereas a few weeks earlier she ignored me as I was getting out of the car!

I do wonder if she's always been this needy and some of that attention was lavished on George, I certainly have no complaints as I like the extra fuss cuddles etc. But I hope she can beat the seperation anxiety, as I/we are worried about leaving her on her own for too long.

Thank you for asking Gretchen.

Sending her lots of love. It’s honestly broken my heart thinking of her missing him. Please give her a big hug from me. George was definitely her confident. Such a tragic thing at any age but far too young to lose your bestie.

Mine is the opposite; she curls up on my lap and goes to sleep, thus preventing me from getting any exercise!
Exactly the reason I didn’t get up early go for a run this morning, I had two of the furry things laying on me in bed.

They made a good point though, it was -2 outside.

^^ biglaugh I think it's probably the heat generated in your legs after exercise. Cats are such gorgeous asshats aren't they. hehe

Yes I know I have a very posh bed you've bought for me, but this old suitcase next to seem far more appealing.

One of ours is obsessed with my gym bag in a similar way.

Today was the annual check up, and whilst very friendly she hates the carrier and is very good at avoiding going in it. So I prepped in advance, took it out a week ago and left it by her bowl, put the carrier at an angle and between 2 heavy objects, waited until she woke up so would be unaware, quickly picked her up and put her in - she managed a complete 180 and jumped out before I got the door shut and ran under the bed. Tried all the techniques I've seen online like put her in backwards or wrap in a towel, but she just gets out instantly. Times like this a dog would have been much easier.

Had our eldest (Snowy) at the V. E. T. today for de-matting and some checks. They found a lump "about the size of an egg" in his abdomen so did some blood tests and ultrasound, turns out this is an inoperable tumour in the lining of his stomach. He seems outwardly fine - eating well, chirpy, affectionate, interactive etc. so we're going to monitor him for the time being and potentially start him on a course of steroids if/when he appears to begin to deteriorate. Part of me is a bit shocked, although he's nearly 17 and has lost a little weight so part of me wasn't entirely surprised either.

May have posted this before but here's a photo of him in younger, healthier times smile

Sorry to hear about Snowy. Wishing him well.

Same for my Stanley he was 17 and we only found it because he started being occasionally sick. Pretty much at the same time he started being a lot more fussy about his food and was it quite hard to encourage to eat. This all meant he started losing a little weight.

We had all the bloods and scans done and that was when it was discovered - The vet said there was nothing that could be done (age meant operations carried much larger risks but as it was viewed as inoperable it wasn't really an option anyway) - enjoy your time with him. We did with Stan but it was soon very obvious that we needed to let him go.

At least now we don't have the "covid sillyness" that was around when we made the decision

Meet Waffles, our british shorthair kitten that we picked up last weekend. He'll be 4 months old in 3 days time. The kids absolutely love him and its alot of fun having him around.

The only issue we seem to be having is he keeping having a pee on our bed. It's not him spraying but completely emptying his bladder. He uses the litter tray just fine and i'm keeping it clear as often as I can.

Any tips to avoid this? We have a Feliway plug in already, might get the spray to use on the bedding.
He gets our time and attention throughout the day as my wife & I work from home and also has the kids for playtime aswell. He is eating fine, has his scratching posts, bed, high place to sit etc and just trying to figure out why he keeps pee'ing on the bed!

For now he isn't allowed into the bedrooms, thought it stopped as we had 2 days accident free but this morning he did it again, so back to keeping doors closed.

Waffles looks lovely. You've mentioned there that he gets as much attention as possible, I wonder if he can strongly pick up your scent on the bed and just finds it comforting to combine it with his.

Have you tried moving the litterbox into the bedroom? Unpleasant, I know, but just to see if he uses it in there?
