Been away from this thread for a while; caught up with some cracking shots.

Just been sent a phone snap of Angus who appears to have failed to stop at the bottom of the garden and got part way across the stream (mud!) whilst asking a deer to leave!

In the shower:

Apparently my OH was upstairs and heard the commotion but didn't really think much of it as it's a regular occurrence with the deer. That was until Angus charged back into the house, raced up the stairs to where she was making the bed, and shook! Having doors open to let the breeze through can have unforeseen results.

This is JayJay (the big one) and Toby.

Jay is 15 and a half she has taken a sudden change for the worse Sunday morning on her usual walk.

She has now collapsed several times outside and can only manage with doing her business then I'm having to carry her up and down stairs into our first floor apartment and to the grass outside as we have no garden.

Monday morning she got me up at 0400 for the toilet. After carrying her outside she collapsed. Her breathing was short and light and I decided to sit up with her knowing what I needed to do the next day. I then took her back out again at 0630 and she collapsed once more.

I woke Kelly up to come through and watch Jay have her last breakfast. Taking Toby to Kelly's mums I got stuck in morning traffic. Jay had collapsed again in the street while Kelly let her out for the toilet.

At this time Kelly wasn't taking it in. Jay had been collapsing when I had been walking her. Kelly had not really seen anything. Driving home I had got into my head that I needed to convince Kelly that putting Jay to sleep yesterday was the best thing. It had all happened so quick and was such a shock.

Getting home Kelly's dad had driven over found an upset Kelly, Jay and a crowd in the middle of the road on the estate. We had rang him Sunday and he said he would come over after his nightshift on Monday Morning. Kelly and her dad needed no convincing.

It was decided that we didn't want Jay to suffer. I had got it in my head we would have the day together, spoil her rotten and take her to be put to sleep that night. I came home to her crumpled on the sofa. It was time.

Jay is Kelly's dog and she has had her from 6 months old what Jay's first owner died. Kelly didn't want to take Jay to the vets and wanted her putting to sleep in her home where Jay has lived for the last 5 years.

The Vet was rang and an appointment of lunchtime was given.

Then came the waiting around. Watching the clock time dragged on, Jay just slept on her bed the whole time. By this point the rug seen in the picture is covered in her fur I have stroked her so much. She is probably wondering why we are all staring at her drinking countless cups of tea. I'm trying to make jokes that are falling on deaf ears.

The vet comes, we are all there Jay. me, Kelly, her dad and sister all people who have had a part to play in her life. Everyone has a different opinion. It's Kelly's choice.

At this point probably because Jay has been resting all morning she gets a spurt of energy. She is greeting the vet, looking in his bag the sparkle is back in her eyes, from the outside Jay is back.

Jay still is breathing rapidly. The vet advises she has a problem with her heart, she has fluid on her lungs. Her body is under a lot of stress this is what is causing her to collapse.

We agree its worth trying with some medicine, she is now on some medicine for her arthritis, some medicine to help with heart failure and some medicine to get the fluid off her lungs.

The weekend has been a rollercoaster, one minute I have no hope, the next I think she is getting better. We have agreed to give it 7 days and see if there has been an improvement. Things are looking up.

I'm at work this week so we have decided I will sleep in the bedroom, Kelly will sleep on the couch. Kelly wakes me up at 0530 to help her take the dog out.

She had the runs in the house overnight, probably the medicine.

Her breathing looks a little calmer, am I clutching at straws?

Kelly has rang me from home Jay has collapsed a few times and soiled herself, she has had the runs all over the house.

Kelly is going to the vets to get some medicine to help. Luckily a neighbour has offered us their back garden to use which backs onto Kelly's apartment front door. This will help us a lot.

Fingers crossed. She still has some fight in her. I'm hoping she lasts a little longer we were taking her up to the Lake district on Friday. She loves it up there.

I just really hope she can make the lakes.

Been a while since ive posted on here!

Hattie and Terry pics... I know Hattie was a favourite amongst some of you, shes turned into a great little dog, as mad as a box of frogs but she has come on leaps and bounds confidence wise! Terry has grown up before his age (bit grumpy and likes to do his own thing) and is slightly ignorant but also a lovely little dog! They are best of buds and my best mates, keep me company (also can be annoying as fk!) as i work from home. They spend alot of the day in the car with me doing errands... always finished with a nice walk in a country park!

(no idea why one photo is the correct way round fecking thing)

Great pictures everyone, keep them up. They are cheering me up. Jay was put to sleep Wednesday night.

We have 'borrowed' Kelly's sisters Chihuahua Teddy and we are still going to head up to the lakes tonight. It is going to be very strange not having Jay with us.

Toby our Chihuahua knows something is up. Since we picked him up he has been moping around the house and looks fed up.

I have Jay's collar and lead, I'm trying to think of a some kind of display to put them in with a few pictures of her. I don't have a creative bone in my body though. Maybe a glass display case of some description.

Here she is up Rivington Pike in February this year.

st - really sorry to hear that.

The display case sounds a nice idea. Maybe select some pics from puppyhood all the way through her life, if you have them?
