My wife and dog have just been attacked by 2 labs- whilst i was on the phone to her.

She was walking our bearded collie on a lead back from the local fields through the streets- dog on short lead, walking along, nothing odd that i can imagine. Both of us grown up with dogs, happy with dogs having a scrap etc.

BUT

whilst on phone to me, she mentions there are two dogs woofing over a gate, she on opposite side of road. these 2 labs then clear the gate (not sure how) and attack her and Barney- and not in a doggy scrap way, but (from what i could hear of their vocal tone) and what Mrs P was saying ("oh fk help me please help me, stop, stop stop" in real terror) these dogs properly went for our dog, Mrs P ran up the road being chased by them, and at the edge of theri "territory"- say some 30m from their house they stopped in the middle of the road and stoof barking (in an agressive tone).

Mrs P was in tears, haven't heard her that upset in years, and barney has lost alot of fur and has a torn ear which is bleeding (he's not particularly bothered).

I'm feeling angry right now, its horrible hearing your wife screaming down the phone for help, knowing there is NOTHING you can do, but don't want to jump the gun and phone the police. personally feel like going round and giving them a good kicking- both the dog and the ownres, but that doesn't solve anything. My other thought at the front of my mind is what would have happened if Mrs P had a child with her?

thoughts?

p.s. please just beleive me that mrs P and Barney did nothing to provoke the attack- and she didn't have time to release the dog from the lead, and was too panicked to let go of the dog (whcih coupled to the fact its a busy ish suburban road might have resulted in our dog being run over)
