Ok, without going into a ful history my little mabes is having a few problems. the latest two are her breathing is now so forced her whole body is moving. that trip to the vets resulting in no help received, just told she is old...

Now her whole abdomen has started to swell up and one leg is bigger than the other. I suspect her Lymph nodes are inflamed and we are off again to the vets tonight.

My question is can this be treated or am I yet again going to be told that there is nothing that can be done. I can't find what I need to know off the internet.

I hate taking her to the vets as it terrifies her and she regularly wets herself in fear. I suspect we are having our last moments with her and I don't want to put her through it if she doesn't have much time but on the other hand If I can help her I will do all I can. I just want to cry every time she has one of her moments. Friday night she had what I suspect may have been a fit and we had to gently pin her down with a blanket and sooth her as she writhed about on her back. She was right as rain 5 minutes later.

I know. I just believe the good times are still outweighing the bad times. My OH says she is being quite chirpy this morning.

I did speak with the Vet last time we were there to ask about the end and when do you know it is time. He has said you will just know it. I just don't know it at the moment and this is why I can't let her go yet. I do know that it will be a home visit though as I can't face her last moments to be in a place that she is scared.

One and all. Thank you for your honesty. I shall update when I can. I am hopeful for good news and equally prepared for the worst.

I need to think about where I want to bury her as we have no grassy area to do so. Christ I can't beleive I typed that but I have to prepare....

I am absolutely terrified and beside myself today.

Edit:

Have decided on an individual cremation. Urn to decide on now...

Thank you Bex. I am now prepared.

When it is time I am now ready. Praying today is not that day though.

Ok have looked into a lot of her symptoms and am ready to be told what to do by the Vet.

Have cried pretty much all day. I am terrified of giving up too early. I don't want to let her down.

I couldn't even click on the final purchase for the urn.

st, st, st. Maybe I should be on Mumsnet, this is a very depressing thread!

Sorry people.

Pills, Injections and more pills. No sign of heart disease so worst fear abated for now. Just have to give her a few days and see. The vet reckons the fit on friday was significant but we are not to worry about losing her for a little while longer.

Feast of cooked chicken, stuffed with pills and a drizzle of honey for her ladyship. (naughty but I don't think it can do her teeth any harm now!) She is in a bad way though. Hoping to see results with the pills.

The swollen abdomen is apparently not heart related but he couldn't tell why. She has had anti inflammatory and antibiotics.

I am just so grateful for just a few more days.

Er, MC... you OK? Do you need some help on People Food and Cat Food? I can run through a few simple pointers if you'd like?
I didn't spot that! Erm a Cat food Sandwich. Someone needs help smile

Mabes has a good night for the firs time in a few days. she even ventured upstairs to slepp near me for a bit. Leg is slightly less puffy but has one massive foot still. Chicken feast for breakfast.

I think I need to move her loo downstairs though, soggy bathroom floor this morning - YUK.

That is what I though. Bless her fluffiness.

I was terrified yesterday that I was not going to get the chance for one last whole day with her so I am very grateful for the reprise.

Oh absolutely. I totally agree. I have been logging her health for some time waiting for that cross over from Mabes the healthy happy cat to Mabes the sick cat.

She is very much on the cusp and I know I don't have long with her. Her quality of life is now swung over that 50:50 benchmark that she has been holding onto for so long. Last night if I had been told it was her heart then I would have made that decision to end any more suffering. I don't know if the treatment will work and so have to giver her a few days to try and fight off whatever made her so sick.
