Obviously a bit late now as it's booked, but everything good?
Any tips?....and most importantly is there fizz at breakfast?
Fizz on Sundays but I'm sure you can get it at the bar all the time. Food was really good, didn't bother with the bookable restaurants as the choice in the buffet was brilliant (I usually hate buffets). The sea is ROUGH outside the hotel but easier on either side. The water park is lethal, give that a miss. The entertainment was pretty good in the main. Make sure you get to the bar to the left for one of the BBQ nights. You'll love it,I'm sure, very chilled and locals are really friendly

Back now, tans already fading, good time, yes, would I go back, no.
I wouldn't have picked the place/time in the first place, too hot in September, but not that sunny.
Hotel was a bit 'meh', too big for my liking, food got repetitive, entertainment was very poor, drinks choice poor and nearly always 'local' brands.
Didn't like the feeling of not being able to leave the Hotel, only route out was the beach and due to a disability I find it difficult to walk on sand.
Would prioritise 'Adults Only' again, I'm not a fan of kids but going during term time usually works with out the sterility we found in adults only, strange demographic of 20-25 year old couples and then 50+, seemed to drain the place of any atmosphere and only time you could year music by the pool was during Aqua Aerobics
Thought the water park was quite good, very quiet even though its shared with next door, no queues and quite tame.
Everywhere else we've been AI has delivered more for less, both money and distance.

I assume you went to Hotel RIU Karamboa on Boa Vista? I looked on google earth and eliminated that based on the fact that it was so desolate. Santa Maria on the southern tip of Sal at least has a village you can walk into and have a mooch around, get something to eat and drink - which gets you out the Hotel.I wouldn't have picked the place/time in the first place, too hot in September, but not that sunny.

Boa Vista was always described as the face of the moon, and Hotel Rui a 5* prison camp.
Santa Maria on Sal Island is the place to go, see all my pics on page 2. Plenty of hotels, bars, restaurants and shops. Water sports and fishing. A lively quirky town.
It was a box Mrs Race wanted to tick off, and then coupled to pleasing another 4 people the compromises just kept flowing, while it wasn't a 'bad' holiday it didn't bring anything to the plate that traveling 2 hours less and spending a few hundred less couldn't have delivered,
It wasn't a bad holiday, just bad value.
Are there better places in Cape Verde, I hope so, would I try and find out, no.
....anyway, next trip to look forward to now, Prague in December, might need my coat for that one.
