I know this, I know this... I learned it on PH last time...

The oxygen molecules separate from the hydrogen as the temperature increases.
How fantastic would it be if this was true, could run all our cars from tap water then!
I suppose if you strip the end of the lead and dunk it in the kettle you might get hydrogen. Having said that we didn't get anything really noticeable, not until the salt went in. Lots of gases then, not to mention the pungent smell of chlorine and the water turned green.

Don't try this at home as there's some risk of death involved.

The noise only happens when you swith the kettle on. It is the sound of the water inside boiling.

Several possibilities about the tap:

1. The sink/bowl is filling up so the resonant frequency changes.
2. The pipe carrying the water gets hotter so expands and filters out a different set of frequencies.
3. Fewer/more dissolved gasses coming out of solution as it exits the tap.
4. The hot water tank or cold water tank (if you have one) is partially emptying so the pressure on the water is dropping.
