Thanks
We bought a Silver Cross which included pretty much everything for about a grand. That’s about the limit of my knowledge

We have a joie system and works pretty good! You can mix and match as prams do come with adaptors for different car seats. We did have a maxi cosi pebble plus but changed to a 360 seat.

I'd say go and try stuff but that's hard now annoyingly!

Shout out for the joie 360!

We use a silver Cross thing where you leave the base in the car for the first year or so.

We bought the Mamas & Papas Occaro with a Maxi Cosi Pebble car seat and Family Fix base. Pram / Pushchair is lovely, but is heavy when the pushchair bit is attached and you’re folding it to go into a car / storage.
Bought it from Bournemouth Baby Centre online for a much better price than Mamas & Papas offered for the same package.

We got this set (albeit not this pattern):

https://www.cosatto.com/shop/prams-and-pushchairs/...

Comes with:

Chassis
Lying down bed thing (basonette?)
Sitting pram seat (yet to use)
Car seat
1 isofix base for car that the car seat plugs into
Changing bag
Warming snug thing that they goes on the sitting pram seat (yet to use)
Adaptors so you can put car seat onto chassis

General thoughts on it all:
There are many makes etc - this one has everything you need until 6months when I think we will need a new car seat.
We are happy with the Casatto, paid £900 for it all in mothercare before it went bust. Seems good quality and comes with a 4 year warranty. Quality seems good and Charles likes the patterns on the inside of the hood.
I have no prior experience of other prams as this was our first pram/child.
They are all pretty big so make sure your car is up to it.

We are getting to the stage of needing a new car seat as he has nearly grown out of his Cosatto one. As far as I know there isn’t one set that will cover you up until 4 years old?

Any questions give me a shout. 5 months into it now and it is an amazing and challenging experience. Until you hold your child you don’t realise how much you can care for something.

we spent ages looking/ researching this, so sorry if it’s long....... i know it’s not easy just now, but the best thing is going to big shop and get hands on with as many as possible back to back and pick the one you like!

pram/ lie down flat bit, some are wider, some are longer, some you can use for occasional over night sleeping.

size/ folding mechanism of the main body/ wheels bit. have a look at them folded up, check that it fits in the boot of your car. they are a decent size even folded up. if you have a small car have a check that it fits in the boot before buying!

wheels/ basket, have a think what you’re going to be using it for. for instance, we live right in edinburgh city centre so thought we’d want something small/ light. but actually we ended up with a fairly rugged pram with a huge basket, because we can walk most places/ shops etc..... where as other friends out in suburbia have to go every where in the car, so folding up/ weight is actually more important to them.

car seats- most of the big brands (bugaboo, uppababy, silver cross, icandy etc....) have adapters for most of the big brand car seats (cybex, maxi cosi, joei....) again just check before you order/ buy one.

after all your research and setting a budget, you will go to the pram shop and buy the one that you like the look of the most!

i write this whilst sat at home next to my shattered partner who has been having contractions since 7pm friday. We are still no closer to meeting our baby and we havent slept for days. We are now 40+5, We have tried everything and i really am wondering if this will ever happen and if it will even be worth it.. Midwifes give the impression of just fobbing us off everytime we phone for advice or assurance on how to get things moving all of which has failed. Walks, warm showers done etc.. The contractions get down to 5 mins apart , then when we cant walk anymore due to her swollen sore feet they go back to 9-10mins apart as she rests. We cant go to hospital until we are down to 2-3 mins apart and we are now coming into day 3 of this. I dont even feel like i will be awake at the birth at this point. I am the only person to support her in hospital due to current restrictions. I am struggling big time with the lack of sleep and cant beleive my partner so far, but surely theres a point were people can see some intervention may be needed or other options need to be looked at.. bit of a lost rant at a time in need i am losing all faith at the minute

Hang in there, lots of back rubs, Jr will be evicted! Good luck!

I'm hoping there is a max time of contractions before they pull you in, but if baby stops moving they will listen a lot more.

Good luck dude.

Are you tempted to tell them they’re every 2 minutes now and head on in anyway?

limited purpose i think as you aren't meant to keep them in the car seat outside the car for too long really anyway, esp early on when they are meant to be in the bassinet bit of the pram. You can often get adapters so a particular brand of car seat can work in a particular brand of pram etc if you need that.

Mini GPM goes everywhere in the car seat! Apart from when she was really small and we used the bassinet part to keep her flat on her back, she's always been happy in the car seat with the adaptors for the buggy. She's getting quite big now at just under 8 months old so we've just switched to a cheapy stroller because she fits well and wants to look out at where she's going anyway.

We decided to come into hospital and she is still only 1cm dilated despite 35 hours of contractions. They also think baby is back to back so need to try and turn them..she is now probably in the best place to try and turn and get some pain relief however im not allowed in until she gets put to a delivery suite which would be when reaches around 4-5cm dilated apparently. This really is a st show

I remember posting on this thread when it first started while waiting for the arrival of our first child. We've just had our second son earlier this month.

Congratulations to all the first and second time new and expectant dads on here!

We did a lot of hunting about. For our stage 1 car seat we went for the Cybex Aton Q. Found it really sturdily put together - even compared to my sister's maxicosi. It's ADAC tested and the isofix base is really easy to use.

For the pram we got the iCandy Orange - chosen mainly because it's handles extended highest of any pram we saw (I'm 6' 5). It's been great though - came with adaptors for the car seat, a lie flat bassinet type thing and a seat for when baby gets older (which can be fitted facing you or forwards. There is also a built in boogie board for a toddler and you can get adaptors (which we have just bought now that number 2 has arrived) to fit the bassinet and seat on the pram together if our toddler decides he can't walk any further!

Both seem to be standing the test of time and are being actively used again for number 2!

I'm afraid I wouldn't trust a midwife. Some are good, but others are, how shall I put this, 'old school'.

Get into hospital. And put your name down for an epidural (if in the plan) before you need one, just in case .
Should be in the agreed birth plan?

My other half had an epidural both times. For our second the first thing she said when we got to the hospital was 'get the epidural ready'.

Aaaand we're full blown in the middle of teething now it would seem... Very red cheeks, no sleep for a couple of days, drooling everywhere, a total mess. And that's just me and Mrs GPM hehe

We're going to get some Anbesol or Ibuprofen tomorrow I think. Calpol's not really doing much!

you can use ibuprofen, anbesol and calpol together as they don't interact. Anbesol is good for instant relief when the other painkillers take a bit of time to kick in. Only use a few drops though as otherwise it sends them a bit too happy!
