I wasn't dishonest before. I wouldn't eat meat if I had to kill it because it'd be too much effort.
My meat has very little flavouring added. I also like the texture.
I get it. You want to eat meat because you don't have to kill it and it tastes nice. You are happy to ignore all the facts associated with animal welfare and poor human health, never mind the negative impact of the animal industry on global resources. You are in the majority. Enjoy. My meat has very little flavouring added. I also like the texture.
I'm more interested in avoiding bowel and prostate cancer, heart disease and living a more authentic lifestyle for longer. Each to their own.

Hi after getting persuaded by my daughter to turn vegan I reluctantly watched a couple of videos and I was shocked as how cruel the dairy and meat industries are, now I am not preaching here but from a man who loves his meat like I love my MEAT from 4 egg omelet plus sausages bacon etc. breakfast plus a whole chicken or a couple of tins of tuna for lunch and dinner well enough said.
I am just starting on this journey and it will be a tricky one . we are told from a very young age that meat and dairy are good for a healthy life but we are not built to eat or consume animal products. here is informative videos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es6U00LMmC4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-XP79o8gqQ
they are sad to watch but very inspiring and informative.
But the main point here is to meet and discuss vegetarianism and vegan-ism with like minded folk are you out there?
If God hadn't meant us to eat animals he wouldn't have made them taste so good I am just starting on this journey and it will be a tricky one . we are told from a very young age that meat and dairy are good for a healthy life but we are not built to eat or consume animal products. here is informative videos

We're omnivores, just look at your teeth...
Meat eaters have very big canines and cannot grind food only chomp lumps of flesh and swallow and are happy to eat raw meat.

Our eyes too. They face forward like most carnivores so we can judge distances better when hunting prey. Prey animals have eyes on the sides of their heads for better visibility of what might be creeping up on them. We're omnivores, just look at your teeth...
Having said that, I think that vegetarianism/veganism is something to aspire to for ethical reasons.
On the preying bit! So how would you instinctively without a gun or knife catch and kill your prey and rip the skin from the meat inside tear from the bones and consume without cooking? were not designed for that but a cat is ?

I'm more interested in living a life I enjoy, doing the things I enjoy, which include eating quality meat products.I'm more interested in avoiding bowel and prostate cancer, heart disease and living a more authentic lifestyle for longer. Each to their own.
There's no way you could persuade me that it's worth giving up stuff I really enjoy just so I can spend a few more years wondering if I'd pissed myself last time I coughed.

According to the other thread you've been a veggie for the last 6 months only. You're hardly Linda McCartney but congrats on getting up to full sanctimony speed so quickly.I'm more interested in avoiding bowel and prostate cancer, heart disease and living a more authentic lifestyle for longer. No, I eat meat because it tastes nice.
Honesty at last. But is it the meat you are tasting? Many people flavour their meats with the likes of herbs, spices, tomato sauce, mint sauce, mustard, chilli sauce, BBQ sauce, even Bisto gravy. All made from vegetables.
Yes we did evolve as omnivorous hunter/gatherers but our civilisation has evolved to the point where it's a valid choice to not eat meat. There's no nutrition in meat that we can't get elsewhere. There are also many reasons to not support the vastly wasteful, destructive and cruel way that meat is mass produced. If someone wants to make the choice to go completely vegan then good luck to them.
I would say that while you're starting out it might be worth taking a multi vitamin supplement until you've figured the diet out .

Been a veggie for 32 years. Couldn't be vegan, I just don't eat enough of the stuff that makes up a vegan diet, without dairy I would have stopped bothering years ago.
Budweiser used to contain renet but it doesn't now.
I've been strict veggie for most of my life but if beer ever gets ruled out then frankly I'll lapse. I've deliberately avoided contributing to unnecessary cruelty in all that time but you stop me drinking beer and I might as well top meself. Not not much point in having a principle that stops you living, that's reserved for the religious idiots.
I agree live is for living but animals have that right to Budweiser used to contain renet but it doesn't now.

Vegan and vegetarian converts are worse than ex smokers.
I reckon the mocking and aggression from the meat eaters is pretty clearly established in this thread...I eat meat, but I eat a lot less of it. Yep. We have developed to eat meat. But not every single day, for every single meal.
A nice piece of organic grass fed steak once a fortnight is a lot more enjoyable than mass produced, processed crap meat like products every single meal.
