PH Secret Santa 2012

I'm not sure if this has been done before, the infamous PH search function is having one of it's turns today.

Anyway, I was thinking it might be nice to do a Pistoheads secret santa. I'm quite happy to sort it out from a organisation point of view.

Seeing as the PH membership criteria requires you to be the Director of at least two companies, I'm sure most of PH could part with a small amount of money and it could be quite amusing.

I haven't really bashed out the details, but I thought if we created a list in this thread, I could then compile a spreedsheet, match people together and then post the list on here. From that, the matched pair could PM a postal address to each other.

If a limit is set of £5(?) and people who want to take part have listed themselves by the 7th, that gives me time to create the list and then 2 weeks for people to buy and send.

As I'm typing this I realise there is actually no 'secret' aspect to this...

Still, could be fun and after christmas we could post pictures of our presents

Any mileage?

Yeah, except in this instance you will need to know your secret santa's PH name.

I don't think it will be too difficult to organise. The hardest part will be to get people to commit, after that it's just a case of exchanging PMs with a postal address.

So, what is the general consensus, £5 or £10?

Yeah, I was trying to avoid that. Only because I'm not sure people would want me having their address, although I don't suppose it makes much difference whether I have the postal address or a random PH'er.

I don't mind sorting out addresses and I'll make sure it is deleted afterwards, unless people would prefer somebody else to do it, like a mod or somebody official from PH?

Okay, well I'll create a list below and people can add their usernames as they see fit. By 10am next Wednesday (5th December) we will close the list and start sending out emails with name, address and likes/dislikes. Sound okay?

I don't mind being the admin, unless anybody has any objections?

How about instead of emailing the admin your real name, email your username, address and likes/dislikes?

Plus you have the enjoyment of a package turning up for your PH persona...

Ok, all agreed on a max £10 spend.

Postage will vary, but unless somebody is sending a pallet of breeze blocks, it shouldn't be more than a couple of quid.

For those that are playing, drop me an email with the following info:

• Username
• Real Name
• Address
• A small list of likes/dislikes (if you're allergic to something then it's best to mention it)

I'll get all the info together and send emails out Friday/Saturday (7th/8th December) to the relevant parties.

Agreed, secret Santas will be in a chain rather than paired. So:

The Beaver King ---> JAYB ---> Council Baby ---> Papa Hotel ---> etc

While I know some are a little wary of the costs of posting abroad, PH is international and I wouldn't want to exclude anyone. If you are a little concerned about costs, feel free to add on your email that you would rather not post to PH'er abroad. On the flipside, if you're into the spirit of things and wouldn't mind posting to one of our poorer, uglier international friends then please add into your email that you are happy to send Xmas spirit and relief aid to them.

I will then use the info above to make sure everyone is happy

• Max spend is £10 + postage.
• There are a few international PH'ers involved. If you don't want to pay that little extra for postage please say in your email. If you are a kind hearted soul and actually want an international PH'er then please say this (You never know, one good present and you could have a free holiday home. I know Adenauer lives by the 'ring...). Any secret santas without a preference will be used in the case there are not enough people volunteering to do it.
• Closing date is 10am Wednesday 5th December, on the Friday/Saturday (7th/8th) I will issue everyone an email with the details of your secret santa.
• Non-senders will be named and shamed.
• All record of addresses will be destroyed after secret santa is completed.
• Photographs of received gifts on here after Christmas.

Some people have missed off likes/dislikes/allergies. Very brave....

There are a few on the list who haven't sent an email yet. There is no rush yet, just don't forget. I'll bump this thread over the next few days to remind people and generate some interest.

Also, some of your emails are very funny. I'm looking at you Adenauer and Papa Hotel...

• If a person has specifically requested NOT to receive a certain gift (a common example being a dildo), please do not send them it. As Papa Hotel has quite rightly said IT WOULD BE BAD FORM (repeatedly)...
• Also, if you haven't received a gift let me know. Christmas mail is busy and some of the post to international PH'ers may take longer.
• All record of addresses will be destroyed after secret santa is completed.
• Photographs of received gifts on here after Christmas.
