Anyone know the rough nutrition for a large chicken shish kebab with salad (no pitta and will try and hold the onions, use mayo from home)?

Can’t seem to find much on google, sure it’ll be fine but I’m tracking my intake of everything on MFP today and after a keto mug cake I need to be careful laugh as you can probably tell I’m struggling today!

Would anyone be able to help? I’ve decided this month is kill or cure.

I’m a fat sleep deprived bd who is really REALLY struggling with carb and sugar cravings. If the sleep deprivation is worse (think three year old who gives no sts if you’re awake half the night and will still talk at you all day) the carb cravings are horrific (put a loaf of fresh bread in front of me and nothing will stop me)

Started the couch to 5k and half way through. I can do it easilybut only if I go earlier in the day. Late afternoon and evening and I’m literally dragging myself around and could cry.

Really want to try a keto diet and get myself in much better shape. Am reading through the entire thread but don’t know where to start - any good book recommendations?

If it could get harder- I’m vegetarian ( just don’t like meat much but happy to rethink it to shed some pounds) and not a huge fan of fatty foods or cream. This can be overcome probably. I have a horrid relationship with food.

Since the late spring I’ve dropped 2.5 stone and a lot fitter- but it’s totally stopped and something needs to be done.

Any help will be gratefully received. I desperately need to lose this weight and get some more energy.

Whatever you are doing seems to be working. Weight loss plateaus are common, and your body can change composition without changing weight. So don't necessarily give that up. If you crave carbs and sugar, I'm afraid you have an unpleasant couple of weeks to get through. It really is withdrawal, complete with an "extinction burst".

If you want the why's of it all, google Gary Taubes and Nina Teicholz. If you just want get started along with recipes, https://www.dietdoctor.com/ is decent.

I think you will find it more difficult as a vegetarian who doesn't like fat! You might need to make some changes there. Certainly there will be fewer people to give advice based on experience.

All the best.

Phil. who posts here is on vegan keto I believe. He posted this link little while ago.

If you don't get on with fats that well then vegan or veggie keto may be the way to go. Although personally it sounds like hell. hehe

If it's the more overt, 'fatty fats' you're not a fan of, introducing just enough meat to get things done protein wise may work too. You could have less fatty meat in your diet on one hand, and get your required fat intake from things like avocados and nuts.

Do you eat eggs?

You really couldn't make this stuff up. I'm just on my way to some vegan forums right now to ask them for their advice on which cuts of steak and pork they recommend. BRB.

Been vegan keto successfully for a long time. What do want to know Lemming? Or are you just on a vegan windup mission?

Vegetarian keto is easy given all the eggs, cheese and yogurt etc. you can consume.

Happy to help anyone who is genuinely interested in not eating meat and achieving sustainable keto.

Sure, if you like eating the same 3 things for your entire life. What else are you going to eat as a veggie on a keto diet when you're excluding meat (and fish?)?

Thanks for the links. I’m not a great egg lover either but I guess I’m going to have to adapt.

Would be really interested in vegan keto. I accept it’s going to be utterly miserable for a while as I’ve got quite a love of Coke Zero too.

And no, it really isn’t a wind up. I need to break poor choices and really kick start this all. I love running but finding it so damn tiring being too heavy and need to do something about it.

Ordered! Thank you smile I think chicken may be a good halfway house. Luckily I’m a great fan of olives, avocado and nuts so may be ok wink

I've been doing Keto for just over 6 months now, over 4 stone lost, just 5lb left to shift before I get down to a normal weight. Most of my info has come from Reddit, there is sub-reddits for Keto Vegan and Veggie also. Plenty info here, just remember Americans work out carbs differently then Europe:

Good luck!

Here’s some more vegan keto resources I’ve posted elsewhere on PH:

https://meatfreeketo.com/

Her book is worth buying too.

https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/vegetables

Alpro unsweetened yogurt is great. Virtually zero carbs.

Peanut butter is your friend if you don’t go crazy.

Lots of vegan protein powders and zero carb sweeteners about. I use Protienworks for both.

Most supermarkets have vegan alternatives to most meats and pre-cooked meats just watch the carbs. Linda McCartney sausages are good.

Recently discovered Lizza, which supplies mainly low carb vegan breads. Their toastier and pizza bases area great for a change.

https://lizza.net/

I’ll dig out some more links to vegan carb stuff tomorrow if you are interested?

Has this thread been tidied up by the mods? I’m sure I saw Lemming back on his box earlier this morning.

I thought your comment was quite reserved and accurate. Hopefully Lemming has been put back in his box for a while.

There are a lot more vegan low carb items you can buy from the supermarket and I’m happy to suggest some items if you wish?

It’s also really easy to replace spag bog, chilli, several different curries (while keeping it low carb) if you don’t mind a bit of chopping and cooking. Take a look at Pininterest for some ideas, or again I’m happy to share.

Good luck, it takes a bit of time and motivation to transition.
