Becoming a morning person

Try and get outside and into some sunlight or natural light asap, just standing at the back door while having a coffee will help.
This is the answer. Many people don’t properly wake up their bodies and brains till about 11am so it is no wonder sleep and awakening is such a struggle.Get up early and get out as soon as you can into the sunlight and the fresh air. Everything will be so much easier from then on.
Can't claim to have fully cracked it, but I have gone from absolute job losing, friend annoying, degree underachieving omnishambles to holding it together pretty well.
I found the simple answer is to get way more sleep. If you're much like me, when you say bed at 11 you probably mean switch TV off at 11, fiddle with phone or read for most of an hour, listen to your wife's worries and actually sleep sometime after 12. If you're waking up at 6:30-7 it's just not enough sleep. Maybe 6 hours a night. And it adds up. If you needed 8 hours, by mid week you have a cumulative deficit of 5 or 6 hours. You're grumpy as hell, walking round in a daze and feeling like crap.
If I want to be up at 6 I'll be in bed by 9 and hopefully asleep by about 9:30, and if I manage that I'll probably beat the alarm.
A couple of other things that have helped:
Hydration. Drink water in the evening and have a glass next to your bed. Especially if you like a beer or wine, it can take days to balance things out. If you don't have a glass of water between 7pm and 7am that's half a day of dehydrating.
Exercise. A bit of stretching and/or lifting, or a 20 minute walk does me a power of good that lasts all day. Just have to force yourself to make a start.
Silence your wife. Or at least train her not to witter. From nearly everyone I've spoken to about it, it's a common female trait to lie in bed and offload all their worries and wants then go to sleep. They don't mean any harm. And as per the famous mantra they're not even looking for an answer, but the male brain sets off seeking one. It needs shutting down.

king sahara maybe, not Arbroath ]
Yeah, that bit is complete nonsense. Fine to drink regularly during the day, great if it works for him.sleep without a pee break, so i'll risk the travails of dehydration

I'm a morning person in that I go to bed between 4 and 6 am.
I was reading under the sheets with a torch as soon as I could read.
Obviously for stretches I've had to 'do' mornings but my body clearly wasn't all that pleased. Some people are simply hard wired that way.
And yes, the racism against night owls is out of control, especially their unfathomable inability to understand that if you count up the hours I actually got less sleep than you overall.

I’ve been doing the same job for coming up 15 years now, and I can count on one hand the days I’ve woken up and got straight out of bed. Maybe it’s the extra hour lie in but Saturdays I regularly get a headache and have to take paracetamol before it becomes bad enough to make me nauseous. Fine every other day, just Saturdays.

Wasn't it Mark Wahlberg bragging about being up at 5am? He posted his daily timetable. Stupid f

k goes to bed at 7pm.
I thought it was 2 am. I also thought it was a joke. If it isn't I'll get him someday.

So much information out there and lots mentioned here in this thread.
One thing no one has mentioned is having something to get out of bed for. Might sound cliche and i certainly haven't got it cracked but i used to love getting up early doors when taking fitness seriously. Find a thing in your day that's worth getting up for.

No great tips here.
Motivated by hating the traffic if my timing is off I learned to drag myself up at first alarm. But it's motor functions only until I get something in me, preferably some breakfast but half a pint of water and a biscuit will do for an instant hydration and blood sugar hit. Then mental functions boot up.

Some of you go to bed really early, it is funny though how different things have different affects on us, my general routine is seen as a definite no no for a decent nights sleep but it works for me.
Me, in bed around 22:30 - 23:00, I usually then go on my tablet for half an hour or so, put it down and then pretty much as soon as my head hits the pillow I am gone, alarm goes off at 05:45, usually I'm stirring around 05:30, up at around 05:55, dogs are fed, make a tea for the wife, shower, breakfast then out of the house by around 06:30 to walk the dogs.
I can even drink coffee right up to bed time and it has zero affect on me.
