You dont have to spend hours in the gym - in and out in 45 mins hitting a certain area each time
whats your usual routine then? i do 100 pushups [4x25] and 300 situps every other night but not seeing much improvement. just want to firm up the saggy bits really.

good luck with the 1/2 marathon.

6'5, 18 stone. That was a bit of a shock, last time I checked my weight I felt overweight at 16 1/2 stone!

1.71m tall (about 5ft 7 in old money?), 64kg (10 stones?)

Run about 30 miles and cycle about 100 miles each week. Need to review my food consumption so I don't drop below 60kg. For me 63kg is about ideal. Gosh, I am such a lightweight shorty compared to lots on here, guess that's why I am so good at cycling up the hills.

you cant "target" fat - you loose fat all over except for the genetic areas where it sticks (mine is love handles doh!)

Are you a member of a gym? I mix and match, keep your body guessing, prob why you are not seeing much improvement - i do road running, HIT training (when short of time), weights or circuits. HIT training makes 25 mins on the runner go super quick, plodding at 10kph is soul destroying on a runner - I do 1min cooldown @ 9kph then 1min @ 16kph. Initially i could only do that 3 time, now i can do it 10, so i cover 5km in 24mins. Also loose the pressups/situps, sorry but must be boring as st every other night - do 30+ sec intervals of squats, lunges, burpes, tricep dips, pressups, shoulder press, planks, skipping, bicep curls. Just as important is to eat right, eat often and drink loads of water!

6 foot 3inches and bang on 16st and 15.8% body fat. Is that good, bad or ugly?

My usual routine is three times a week.....

6 x 20 press ups (timed)
6 x 20 tricep dips (timed)
5 x 12 bicep curls @14kg
5 x 12 shrugs @ 24kg
5 x seated row @ 120kg
5 x 15 back raises
5 x 30 sit ups
5 x 15 leg raises
5 x 35 crunches
5 x 8 pull ups (underhand shoulder width grip)
5 x 8 lat pulldowns @ 91kg
5 x 8 front raises @ 8 & 10kg
bit of bench sometimes.

and 6k run 2twice a week followed by 3000m row.

5ft 7" & tipping the scales at 14st (weighed at the gym today).

I'm currently the heaviest i've ever been and I can't stand it! I start my new job tomorrow which is local so no more commuting into London for me.

This should give me more time to visit the local gym (which I joined on Saturday). I've taken up the offer of 8 sessions (over 8 weeks) with a Personal Trainer for £20 so they can set a plan for me.

Never been happy with my body (how gay does that sound) but i was most comfortable with myself when I was 12st and had built some decent muscle on my arms etc before I went off to uni. Also want to go down 4 notches on my belt!

I know it isn't going to be easy but I want to do it (which is half my battle), I think the issue is going to be a pregnant wife at home which means lots of temptations at home (Coca Cola & Choc) and working out what to eat so that she gets a balanced diet and I don't get too many calories!

Had a good swim on Saturday and 45mins in the gym today and feel energised!

Thought i'd put a post on here to keep a diary of how I get on!
A month later and i'm still going to the gym.... unfortunately weighing in the same as I was before but feeling much much healthier.

Swimming a couple of times a week and resitance training once or twice as well.

Hopefully the weight will start falling off soon but I feel slimmer (if that makes sense)

Dont pay a huge amount of attention to the scales, you may well have lost fat and gained muscle in its place, therefore not changing the scales.

Go by what you see in the mirror more.

Big chap. (ladeez liked him too)

it's great to see so many people getting fit (it does seem that everyone is over 6ft?) as I am also doing the same.
I am 5'10 14.5st but big built, my doc was surprised I was so heavy.

I run four times a week and have cut my calories right down. Eat lots of fruit, pasta, low/no fat yog, whole grain bread, sweet corn cobs, fish etc.
It takes ages for me to put on weight but over time it ads up but also it tales ages to drop off!

May start going to gym but last time I went I got a bit carried away, never big enough etc.

Still 6' but dropped to my race weight of 80kg which is good as I have a 3 hour endurance race next month. I may enter the Buckmore Park Ironman winter series, that should be a work out, one hour in a kart (thunders) smile

Same here. 5'8" and 10 1/2 stone. Lots of cycling all year plus a bit of running over the winter means I can eat like a pig & drink like a fish and if I really let myself go (e.g. double helpings of Xmas pud & stuffing my face with chocolates, booze and all sorts of crap) I can hit 11st. Soon drops off again though with a bit of effort. You lot just need to try harder! wink

A lot depends on your age as well as your body type

especially after 40 !!

I used to be able to eat what I liked , had a very active job ( ex derrickman ) height 5'10 well built lots of upper body muscle. weight in my 30s was 83KG 13 stone ,now mid 40s came back to work at 100kg !!
started a training programme at work to get weight down to 85kg by mid september .......training on an excercise bike ......
so far lost 8kg since 26 July.

after 8 weeks at work and 100km weekly cycling on the excercise bike

weighed myself today
at 13 stone 12 llbs or 88kilos

Been a bit slack gym wise in the last couple of weeks...

Got back on the scales after a swim tonight and i'm still at 14st. I feel much better though and my t-shirts feel like a better fit. Feel more toned across my legs as well.

Diet wise we've been a bit slack so will tighten that up a bit and see if that can increase the weight loss

6ft 1 22.5 stone

used to play rugby at professional level, stopped and tanked on the pounds (although i used to be 19stone when i played). Still carry a fair bit of muscle bulk, but its not toned. Can leg press 600kg though which isn't too bad.

Decided that i hated having a 46" waist, so joined british military fitness. have been going 3-4 times a week and being careful with what i ate. haven't lost a pound in weight, but have lost 4 inches from my waist which is good i think. Have packed the muscle on all over. Aiming to get to a 36" waist eventually.

Had a full medical very recently and was in the all clear for eveything including blood pressure, which was nice. Just need to get much fitter and lose the flab. Most recent fitness test reported that i can do 54 pressusp and 46 situps in 2 mins and can run 1 mile in 10:30 (which i'm really disappointed in!)
