How much sleep do you get? Do you think you can be "trained" to have enough sleep in under 8 hours or is everyone just wired up differently?
I'm incredibly grumpy if I don't get enough sleep.
Do plenty of exercise and eat well, sometimes I just can't get to sleep though as I have a habit of overthinking things when I'm trying to drift off! Never have a coffee late/at the weekends which doesn't seem to make much difference.
I'd like to be more productive and sleep less.

I suspect different people need different amounts. I get about 4 to 5 hours a night but often broken with my 3 year old clambering into our bed and if I wake up in the middle of the night, I often think about work and can't get back over easily. I go to bed about midnight and my alarm goes off about 6:30 but I never get to sleep right away and I'm often awake before my alarm goes off.
My other half needs a lot more. She's normally in bed by 9 / 10pm which mad to me. After work and before bed is "my time". I'd hate to come in from work, eat then head straight to bed. I'd feel like I had no time for me. She needs it though. In her PJ's as soon as she gets home which must put people in that sleepy mindset. I'm in my jeans until I go to bed. We're all different.

Normally somewhere between 6 to 7 hours Monday to Friday, although that is rarely uninterrupted as my two year son insists on sleeping in our bed and is prone to kicking me in the head at three in the morning. Weekends I probably get 8 to 9 hours.
We got proper sized single beds for our kids as soon as they were old enough. Then you have two options, either send them back to bed after they appear in your room at a silly hour of the night or if they insist on sleeping with Mummy take to their bed as soon as the opportunity arises.Luckily my son doesn't get up now as clambering into his Ikea cabin bed isn't so easy
Oh and regarding the topic, I should probably sleep more than I do, probably average around 7 hours.
Weekdays, asleep 23:30 to 00:00, up at 06:45
Weekends, drink beer, fall asleep on the sofa, get into bed by midnight usually, pre-programmed to wake by 07:00 though usually one of the kids is up by then anyway. This Saturday I somehow went back to sleep until 08:00 when my daughter then came up to make sure I was awake, sent by the wife I suspect

Thanks for the advice, it’s our own fault really. He has own bed in our room (our bedroom is a bit of an unusual shape so he can have his own private corner) and can use another bed in his playroom. He was in a good routine, sleeping in his own bed in his own room until we moved. After our move his bedtime routine was lost and now he only wants to sleep in our bed. That bed is 2m x 2m so there is in theory plenty of space but he seems to prefer sleeping diagonally! We have tried putting him in his own bed once he is asleep but he always wakes up and jumps back into ours (normally after performing quite an impressive sprint and dive manoeuvre).Luckily my son doesn't get up now as clambering into his Ikea cabin bed isn't so easy

I get varying amounts of sleep.
Last night for example I managed to fall asleep around 2pm and woke up at 6:30am.
Was pretty tired when I woke up but after 10 minutes, and subsequently now I feel pretty good.
Sometimes I can sleep for 10 hours and wake up feeling significantly worse than I do now for example on 4.5 hrs.
However it's rare, on average I am asleep around 1:30am and wake up around 8:30am, but sometimes a little earlier.
I am a firm believer it's not the duration of your sleep but the quality, and also at what point in your sleep cycle you wake up , rather than ensuring you get at least 8 hrs a night.
My mrs is very much a worrier about getting her 8 hrs often to the point of worrying about not getting it, then struggling to sleep because of it........ she could not function on the amount of sleep I regularly get.

Our Lab does but the 2 collies dont. One will knock on the bedroom door (kind of like a scratch), ther other will bark randomly. Just one bark at a time but still to let you know its time. .
When the Lab was younger he would headbut doors - in one house we loved in this was enough to open the door, so had no chance of hiding lol

I sometimes find this. The brain just goes into overdrive and hard to get to sleep, can last a good few hours..

If I don't get myself to bed before 1030pm, preferably 10pm, I'll break some sort of barrier and stay awake until 2am/3am.
Most nights my sleep is interrupted, by what? I have no idea but it's rare to ever sleep through.
If I could get 6 hours of decent sleep I'd be so happy, and probably be in a better mood.
