Okay so summer is fast on it's way and there is a good chance we'll be exposing body parts in natural light.

But how many of you are ashamed (or not) to get there manky feet out - possibly due to bad nails?

I'm not a proud or a vain man - but I dont get my feet out very often due to the big toenail on one foot that drives me to distraction... many years ago I caught it under a door but kept on walking so the nail dug into the toe. During that same year it also became stuck in a swimming pool filter as a friend pushed me into the pool. Hence the nail is a bit worse for wear.

I got given one of those Curanail kits and various steroid creams but its not done a vast amount, also (the worst bit and the reason for this post) the toe itches like I cannot describe!! I honestly think an orbital sander or a pair of bolt croppers is the only real cure.

hehe

I've used mine to threaten The Other Half before. She is paranoid that coming in close contact with it spread it onto her.

Would that stop the itch as well do you think? To be honest the appearance of it doesn't worry me too much... but the itch is unbelievable at times.

You know the guy on the advert that is itching his foot on the shop door mat? I've used pens/ knives / handtools / Ice... its honestly a nightmare that I wouldnt wish on anyone.

I've mentioned it to a few doctors and they just give me steroid cream that doesnt cure it at all.

I stubbed my toe and had a fungal infection for years.

Went to the doc, got some tablets and 3 weeks later it had gone.

(I had a rash on my arse/groin too so I suspect your visit will be less "embarrasing" than mine)
Had those too - twice actually but didnt work. (the tablets that is - not the rash on my nether regions!)

...i took a leatherman and proceeded to cut down the middle of the toe nail and rip them out (both big toes)

...and both times stunk to high heaven....rather worryingly there is another toenail underneath!!! but its all manky and black.
Now thats real male grooming hehe

My main offender recently cracked right down the middle from top to bottom.

I'm going to try Rach*s Tea Tree Oil... if that fails I'll seriously think about having the bugger off.

i have one big toe nail missing, it was ingrowing so i had it removed, you can write on the nail bed and everything..
Odd question. How does it feel when you touch it?
I was thinking the same thing - when I've had things jab right under the nail it hurt like a bd! I can only imagine that what it feels like when you no longer have a nail.

is it:

A: Hes a freak of nature
B: An Alien
C: Been subjected to japanese torture with a set of pliers

or D: He can probably lick his own elbow too

Brilliant!
- sadly they just seem to be taking a very long time to take effect for me, the Curanail kit is slowly working and certainly tided the main offender up a bit.

Its the itch thats worse though - I can't work out what triggers it and it just seems to move around that area of my foot. Luckily I work from home most days so I dont have to wear socks at my desk.

Two other questions:

1: Why do we have nails in the first place? They just seem to give 45% of Pistonheads trouble.

2: What on earth causes bad nails to create that terrible smell? yuck Is it literally rotting away under there?

Ooooch!

So what your saying is: there are probably a few more people out there with problematic nails... sadly they can't write about in this thread as they are missing the relevant digits to do so! yikes
