Why do you support the team you support?

Simple enough question for me, but there's thousands of folks who "support" the big clubs who have never set foot in the UK let alone Manchester, Merseyside or London.
I'm a simple soul, I was born in Chester, I grew up in Chester, I went to the same school as the Old Boys who jointly founded Chester City FC, I hate Wrexham, not too keen on Shrewsbury (but that's more a rowing thing than a football thing) so I support Chester (City) FC for my sins.
What are your excuses?
